Being an at-home parent for most of my working years had tradeoffs, but afforded me the chance to make the most of my liberal arts education and gain experience and expertise in a wide variety of fields. There are three common threads to my eclectic career: communication, teaching, and science.My time in the classroom often included all three themes, but I found that I was not making the difference I wanted with only a part-time commitment. For years, technical writing and agricultural volunteer work connected me with science, and soccer coaching provided the teaching platform to truly make a difference in our community through teaching. My work to develop as a coach has made me a better person and leader, and I hope to continue with this passion as opportunities arise.My latest venture is the formation of Maine Underwater Imaging, a videography and photography business using an ROV, or underwater drone. This project revives my interest and knowledge of subtidal marine ecology, and uses a new mode of communication to show what is happening below the surface of aquatic environments.
