This is a department that runs 24/7.Managed the team that brought in the 5 S system to the operations as part of my lean philosophy. I was responsible for creating the policies, training and following through on the 5S program. After roughly 14 months of the program running, our facility received the first perfect mark ever in housekeeping from our annual AIB International external audit for food safety. My work has recently been published in the January 2012 newsletter for the CME, Atlantic edition (Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters).Fixing production problems. One example of this would be a bottleneck in our Plate storage. The printing plates are very expensive, we were having a problem getting them back to storage after use. We estimated that each month we were causing about $7500.00 of damage to these plates due to the storage problem. I organized a group of employees to map out the problem and make improvements. At the end of the two week project, we had cleaned up the mess, figured out a way to store the plates immediately after use and were able to eliminate one full time position. At the same time we were able to reduce the overall monthly damage to the plates by $5400.00. -

This schedule had to be monitored and at times followed up with appropriate personnel to make sure that critical customer deadlines are met.· Negotiated closely with sales, quality assurance and manufacturing to make sure customer requirements were met. A highlight in this area would be an 8 % annual increase in our promise delivery rating since taking on this responsibility.· Evaluated raw materials daily and ordered an economical amount that can be used up in a short amount of time to keep raw inventory levels low.· Presented a four week, quarterly and annual manufacturing plan regularly to the management group highlighting new business, machine / employee expectations and finished good inventory levels at the end of this four week period.· Researched new raw materials / processes and set up liaisons between our suppliers and the technical departments to show continued improved process control and costing.· Organized and tracked shipments of tooling, supplies and raw materials to provide the facility with all its material needs at the lowest economical cost that will allow the material to arrive for use on or ahead of schedule. I typically dealt with 8 metro centers over North America but sometimes had to bring materials in from smaller regions or overseas as needed. -

We defined the system for our company, created the tracking systems and trained our workforce. This position supervised the system on all levels during its first year of operation.· Scheduled weekly 2500 production pieces per day on 4 production lines. Considered productivity, stock availability and manufacturing capabilities of each line. Expected and planned for Daily “rush” orders to occur, adjusted main schedule as needed to accommodate these orders.· Collected material and manufactured parts transfer sheets to enter data into the computer database system. Audited and reconciled counts.· Prepared various counts and audits to generate reports and presentations for the JIT and ISO 9002 systems.· Supervised 40 to 90 employees ranging from 2 to 4 departments depending on production requirements. Areas of specialty included training, scheduling, payroll, departmental budgeting and discipline. Primarily worked the 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. shift which allowed for more creativity and independence in this role as there were fewer resources, support staff and senior management available.· Solved production problems, working closely with Quality Control, Engineering, managers and other employees.· Researched new production ideas, equipment and techniques in order to improve existing production and costs. A highlight in this area: researched and refined a packaging process for HID Ballasts that allowed us to increase our pieces per skid 200 to 278 % depending on the unit. This resulted in increased capacity for shipping containers allowing us to ship more units using fewer packaging materials per container· Implemented an Employee Appeals Review System. Chaired the mixed employee and management committee that formed all policy for this system. Served as a management member of the tribunal for two years. -
