I currently work with the Infrastructure Server Support Team for the Information Technology Services Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. I help build, maintain and support the lab infrastructure servers.http://www.ornl.govOak Ridge National Laboratory's Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate conducts state-of-the-art research and development in computer and computational sciences in support of DOE's missions and programs. We develop and deploy leading-edge computing and information technology capabilities to keep computational sciences at a level comparable to experimental sciences in the pursuit of scientific discovery and technical innovation.

Responsibilities include the administration and operation of 400 plus server systems to ensure 24 hour operation. Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of these systems. Perform troubleshooting, run diagnostics, monitor resource use and tailor/tune to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Assist in the research, evaluation, design, system specifications, configuration and testing of new/upgrade operating systems, system software and other products. Provide technical assistance to Information Services Support personnel and clients.Administration of 400+ Windows 2008/2003/2000 servers using Storage Profiler, Hyena, Diskeeper, McAfee EPolicy Orchestrator, What's Up Gold, and VMware Infrastructure Client.Administration of 2003/2000 Active Directory servers, DNS, and DHCP.Maintain documentation on server builds and vendor contact for troubleshooting and DR purposes.Test new technologies for data center implementation and future upgrades of servers, operating systems, and other hardware associated with data center growth.Significant Accomplishments:Employee of the month 2 times (nominated by my peers) for outstanding customer support and support to other IT staff for troubleshooting and consistent follow through from start to finish on problems presented to me.Built, maintained, and monitored over 90+ servers for the main hospital application Meditech. This included migrating from old IBM xSeries 330 and 335 servers to new Dell 2950 servers or virtual servers. Also included moving multi-terabytes of data from an old EMC CX500 to a new EMC CX380 SAN.Ground up implementation of numerous projects for hospital applications running on servers involving systems such as Meditech, EEG studies, cafeteria cash registers, faxing, telephone triage, Microsoft Amalga, printing, PACs systems for imaging, video monitoring and conferencing, VMware View, Microsoft Sharepoint, Microsoft SMS, WSUS, Storage Profiler, and Diskeeper Administrator.

Responsible for providing a professional response to calls made to Systems Operations requiring problem resolution and/or assistance on hardware and software utilized in a multi-platform environment. This includes interacting and consulting with additional staff members necessary for resolving problems, providing on-site and remote control assistance, tracking progress and keeping the client informed on the status of their calls. Have a strong analytical, problem assessment and prioritizing along with customer service skills.Monitor backups of all servers in the data center using Legato Networker console and replacing or removing tapes as needed. Maintain backup inventory for disaster recovery and restores.Cover service desk during after-hours operations to assist customers on any problem related to IT, desktop, printer, phone, server, and network. Troubleshoot and document these calls and forward to appropriate on call staff if unable to resolve them or assist the on call staff on these calls.Monitor IBM AS400 for daily data processing and backups of AS400 data.Monitor all servers and switches in the data center, main hospital and clinics across North Texas by using What's Up Gold.Monitor the main hospital application for patient care called Meditech. Meditech includes 90+ servers for every aspect of patient care from admissions, imaging, lab, pharmacy, to billing just to name a few.Significant Accomplishments:Consistently had the most first call resolutions of all Systems Operators.Documented data center with Visio to visually help with location of racks, servers, and switches.Implemented from start to finish installation of temperature probes and humidity sensors in key data center locations and offsite locations to allow monitoring of temperature and humidity in key areas using Avtech temperature and humidity probes.Constantly maintained documentation of all systems and procedures for daily processing and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities included the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of software and hardware problems related to desktops and servers. Install, maintain, and update servers and desktops for updates and security patches as well as installation of routers and other networking components for local and wide-area networks.Setup and maintenance of Windows 2000 Active Directory and folder/file level security. Administration of 5 branch locations for maintenance of Servers, Desktops, Network, Security, and Phones.Assist contractors on implementation and design of new branch locations for network, phone, desktop and server infrastructure.Oversee enterprise Antivirus/Malware through McAfee EPolicy Orchestrator and Symantec Antivirus EnterpriseComplete server builds for specific ITI banking software for file servers, Exchange 2000 servers.Complete desktop builds for specific ITI banking software, email, Microsoft Office and antivirus. This also included custom made applications for specific people throughout the bank.Significant Accomplishments: Ground up implementation of EZTeller for teller desktops and servers at 5 branch locations.Ground up implementation of Track-it! for auditing desktops and servers.Increased bank security by assisting in the implementation of Intrusion Prevention and Internet Content Filtering.Worked with vendors, off-site technicians, and fellow computer operators in order to upgrade all older servers and desktops to newer Dell servers and desktops at all branch offices in order to create a more focused support base for hardware and software.Selected for numerous team leads for new implementation of new systems and software needed for upgrading and maintaining desktop and server systems.
