We have recently opened the new Pacific Seas Aquarium at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, WA. I had the opportunity to assist with the ideation of the content, look and feel of the Aquarium. Many of my best ideas are in the new Pacific Seas Aquarium which is located in my home town of Tacoma. I am honoured to have had the opportunity to contribute to something that will last the community for generations.

I managed the display, culture and acquisition for what were at the time the worlds largest collections of living jellyfish. Additionally, I was responsible for general husbandry such as managing collections health, maintaining displays to a world class standard, record keeping, life support design and construction, field collections and animal transports. I was also a research and development Aquarist for more than 6 years. My duties were to establish collaborative working relationships with researchers, then go out into the world and find new and interesting animals that might make interesting display organisms. This included determining methods for site selection, collections, transports, feeding, and long term holding and eventual display protocols. Some of the notable animals I have worked with and developed protocols for include giant Humboldt squid, whale bone eating zombie worms, and deep sea invertebrates of all kinds especially jellyfish. During this time I discovered and scientifically described two species of jellyfish that were new to science.
