Platform Engineering Manager
CurrentPlatform Engineering Manager for our team of DevSecOps, Cloud, and Containerization Engineers. This people first role ensures that the team has access to the tools and support needed to provide first class solutions for both internal and external customers. Senior lead SME responsible for the VDI Engineering team for the LabVerse, Collider, Mothership, and SkyCloud projects for Air Force Research Labs. This initiative is to provide a novel secure development in a self-service, multi cloud environment where end users can dynamically deploy a variety of VM types, operating systems, and software selections. Utilized DevSecOps technologies such as Terraform, Packer, Salt Stack, Artifactory, ArgoCD, and Gitlab to automatically manage the VDI deployment for STIG image generation, VM creation, software, and configuration management for Windows, RHEL, and Ubuntu systems. Wrote a set of Terraform deployments that would completely deploy and configure the VDI infrastructure, such as storage accounts with containers, domain controllers, Salt and Guacamole host servers, compute galleries, and many other application servers. Utilized Nessus security scans to ensure that the solutions created are remediated appropriately. Created almost 400 Salt States to manage the VDI desired state configurations. Created container images, deployment files, and Helm charts for multiple application suites in a primarily Azure Kubernetes Service environment. Most critically, fully documented all Infrastructure as Code whether inline, at the repository readme, or presentation level.
