About Chad Amberg

Chad Amberg is a Platform Engineering Manager at ARKA Group, LP. He possess expertise in security, disaster recovery, vmware, active directory, servers and 40 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "Before Chad joined our organization, attrition had left me as the sole Windows Administrator for Juniper’s Windows Server and Desktop infrastructure. The workload was unreasonable, and I likened it to frantically bailing a sinking ship. Chad came on-board in a supervisory role over me; and it turned out that he was exactly what the organization needed at that time. Thankfully, he is as technical as he is approachable; and our initial discussions gave him a clear image of just how much was being expected from our group. Not being afraid to get his hands dirty, we split the workload and immediately fell into step with each other. However, what impressed me most was his ability to change a reactive crunch-time situation into a proactive opportunity to implement improvements for the future. Always seeking transformation over a quick fix led us into a more efficient era, and taught me a lot about how to deliver solutions rather than resolutions.", "Chad is without doubt the most skilled and knowledgeable person I have ever worked with. His expertise spans all facets of IT, with specific emphasis on cloud technology, virtualization, and security. He is also able to communicate in such a way that complex technical subjects become simple to understand.", and "When I interviewed Chad I was blown away by the knowledge he has across the board in IT. He has definitely been the best hire I have ever made. He is scary smart, but at the same time can communicate with everyone regardless of background. He is one of the best troubleshooters I know. Plus he writes great code."

Listed skills include Security, Disaster Recovery, Vmware, Active Directory, and 41 others.

Platform Engineering Manager for our team of DevSecOps, Cloud, and Containerization Engineers. This people first role ensures that the team has access to the tools and support needed to provide first class solutions for both internal and external customers. Senior lead SME responsible for the VDI Engineering team for the LabVerse, Collider, Mothership, and SkyCloud projects for Air Force Research Labs. This initiative is to provide a novel secure development in a self-service, multi cloud environment where end users can dynamically deploy a variety of VM types, operating systems, and software selections. Wrote a set of Terraform deployments that would completely deploy and configure the VDI infrastructure, such as storage accounts with containers, domain controllers, Salt and Guacamole host servers, compute galleries, and many other application servers. Utilized Nessus security scans to ensure that the solutions created are remediated appropriately. Created almost 400 Salt States to manage the VDI desired state configurations. Created container images, deployment files, and Helm charts for multiple application suites in a primarily Azure Kubernetes Service environment. Contract System Administrator

Global, Us

Worked with Compassion International project members to plan, document, test, and implement a Windows 2003 Server and Exchange 2003 Server upgrade. With over 35 domains in multiple forests spread throughout the world, and with extremely varied network conditions, very challenging issues arose in areas such as Active Directory replication and corruption, Exchange mail routing, and other legacy problems. These issues prevented successful upgrades and had to be corrected or repaired to allow successful migrations. The documentation had to be thorough enough that unskilled workers in third world environments could follow and complete the given tasks with a minimum of support. While an overall migration plan was developed, each individual migration had to be analyzed for its own unique set of challenges, and then a specific step by step system was planned and executed.
