As an AWS Solutions architect, it is all about our customers and delivering on the value of cloud computing. Everything from helping live-stream some of the largest sporting events to mission-critical payment solutions for some of the largest financial institutions in the world. I love educating teams on cloud security and how to adapt their cloud architectures for HIPAA, NIST, & PCI to name a few. I have helped customers plan networks with connectivity in the terabit per second scale. I am also crazy excited about and have a deep focus on serverless architectures at scale having helped customers run functions operating in the millions of transactions per second. In my role as Chief Solutions Architect, I designed cloud based solutions for customer-facing applications within the Boeing Digital Aviation portfolio. I spent time consulting with our development and IT partners to build scalable, robust, and secure applications using cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure. I led efforts to ensure cloud adoption met legacy business requirements while taking advantage of cloud delivery models. I was responsible for alignment between IT architecture, operations and development. I was an early adopter of AWS starting in 2008 as part of our mobile and digital transformation. This led to a global role where I was able to help teams in Europe, Australia, and Asia reduce dependencies on outdated datacenters and migrate products to the cloud.

In my role as an Infrastructure Architect I am focused on public cloud adoption within the Jeppesen and Boeing Digital Aviation enterprise. I spend time consulting with our development and IT partners to build scalable, robust, and secure applications using cloud platforms such as AWS. I help develop IT long-term strategy to make sure next generation tools, platforms, and architectures are aligned between IT architecture, operations and development. I am responsible for identifying the technology, and development needed to transform our IT team into an agile, cloud savvy organization.

My role at Northrop Grumman started with TRW Space Systems, which was acquired by Northrop Grumman, was focused on space-based projects in the areas of missile defense, command and control, battlefield management, intelligence, and surveillance and reconnaissance. I was responsible for the creation of several build farms automating complex builds of space and ground systems. In my 5 years at Northrop I had roles in our engineering tools development team, which focused on development of in-house tools used for automation and integration of various systems. I represented engineering tools and SCM as part of a 2.9 billion dollar NPOESS proposal that was awarded to Northrop/TRW in 2002. In my last few years I served as a consultant to new project startups within the NGMS and NGST organizations that were using our automation platform. In my day-to-day work I used a wide variety of languages including c/c++, java, c#, perl, and SQL.In addition to my listed duties I also was a member of our software cost estimation team that used data collected from existing projects to forecast costs of new work in support of proposals and existing contract modification. In my time with Northrop I gained a lot of experience working on government contracts, and large scale proposals. DOD TS/SCI/SSBI clearance; Last full SSBI was Sept 2006.

My duties included software development on classified projects supporting intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance projects. I was primarily focused on development environment, and deployment automation areas. The project was based on SVME PowerPC SBC’s and included firmware and operation systems development with some algorithm development. Nearly all work performed in this position was in c/c++ with scripting in perl using Rational engineering tools.DOD TS clearance.

My duties included managing avionics test stations and supporting computer systems. I operated, inspected, programed, and calibrated computer and manually operated avionics test equipment, and aircraft electronic warfare (EW) systems primarily on the F15-E platform. While in this position I learned several avionic specific programing languages related to test and operation of EW systems. I was awarded 366th Airman of the Quarter and received an achievement medal for my role in two deployments related to “Operation Northern Watch”.
