Lead special projects and process optimisation for BHP's Minerals Australia Technology Remote Operations Centre, focusing on deploying Industry best practice to monitoring Industrial Technology at a global scale.• Designed and managed the deployment of an Australia wide SCADA system (TROC HMI) using Ignition Perspective from Inductive Automation. This deployment included applying Abnormal Situation Management and ISA18 Alarm Management philosophy. Involving 100k+ streaming data points from thousands of servers and network devices, hundreds of PLC’s and other SCADA systems in near-real time. To achieve this data rate, an OPC UA module that consumes the live data pipe stream from OSI PI Archive snapshots was developed. The deployment also included data from integration with other platforms such as ServiceNow, Denodo, Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Twilio. • Developed and deployed a financial model for incident priority, attributed to Technology production downtime. This model covered fixed plant, mining, rail and port operations across each individual site in Australia.• Created and facilitated the use of a performance board for the Technology MinAu Operations leadership team, including Spotifre summaries for Operational Downtime, Field Leadership, Incidents and Problems.
Principal Design Authority It/Ot
Lead the technical stream of BHP's global Operational Technology integration project, to transition all people, work and accountability for equipment in the Operational Technology landscape. As the technical lead globally on this program, I had to first define and design the scope boundary constantly, and then discover all technology components across the Iron Ore, Coal, Petroleum and Copper operations. Following the discovery, I have consistently modelled the risk associated with BHP’s Operational Technology footprint.• Lead a team of 40 analysts and engineers across Perth, India, Brisbane, Adelaide, Santiago and Houston to ensure consistent application of discovery scope. • Define the split between Information Technology, Operational Technology and Equipment across BHP, by publishing the BHP Technology Battery Limits. This formed the basis for the scope of what was to transition from the Operation to the Technology function in terms of people, process & technology.• Define a risk framework to model all of BHP’s Operational Technology Obsolescence Risk across all assets and locations.• Inventory over 65,000 individual operational technology components across 30 locations.• Map and understand impact and model business risk associated with each of these 65,000 components, by understanding and documenting the obsolescence status (from over 200 vendors).• Create opportunity assessments for all discovered high-risk Operational Technology, so it can be prioritised in the capital planning process.• Define and publish aligned Responsibility, Accountability and Support mappings for all technology work across all technology components, to enable the safe transition of and accountability and responsibility at each of BHP's operations globally. • Facilitate technical and RASCI workshops across all of BHP's sites globally, between technology and operations to enable a safe, globally consistent, understood and agreed transition.

The neural networks were deployed in Allen Bradley PLC code, and proved to be just as accurate as the actual weightometers, without using the weightometer as an input.• Completed finance audits on Technology cost distribution to accurately re-distribute employee costs to mirror Technology’s global operating model, ensuring out JV partners are charged accurately.
Technical Lead Historian Project
• Seconded to the IT/OT department to assist in rolling out OSISoft PI to replace PHD across the entire Iron Ore operations in Western Australia.• Increasing the number of collected tags from ~129k to over 2m tags collected, whilst increasing the resolution from 30s to 1s, and optimising the data compression.• Moving the tag collection from the SCADA control layer down to the PLC’s and field device layer (where the data was not instantiated in SCADA).• Automatically contextualising the tags collected into the AF Data model using an ISA aligned hierarchy. This was possible where the tag names matched the standard WAIO naming convention (in either SACDA or the PLC).• PLC's in scope included: GE 90-30, GE 90-70, GE RX3i, GE RX7i, AB ControlLogix 1756-L55, AB ControlLogix 1756-L63, AB ControlLogix 1756-L73, AB ControlLogix 1756-L75, Schneider Modicon 140, Schneider Modicon 172.
