Rocket scientist, business & technology manager, advisor, professor, rock climber, home renovator, and exhausted father. I've been working in the aerospace & defence industry since 1999 including assembling the International Space Station, inspecting space shuttles on orbit, building automated rendezvous & docking systems, and automatic target recognition and tracking, with expertise in machine vision-based intelligence, particularly in the aerospace & defence industries. Experienced in mission operations, mission planning, risk analysis, spaceflight support, project management (software, hardware, data/intelligence), business development, technology and business strategy development, proposal writing and assessment, organizational and process diagnosis and development, R&D and innovation management, IP management, new product development, and project portfolio management.I was a member of, and led, the Aerospace Sector Team at the National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program, where I was an Industrial Technology Advisor with a focus on aerospace and defence markets, 3D imaging systems, lidars, machine learning/vision, geospatial intelligence, communications, and Beyond Visual Line of Sight UAVs. Business and industry development included innovation program structure (including ISO 56002), market analysis, risk analysis, competitor analysis, business assessment, innovation program development, collaborative agreements, and implementing innovation and financial management. I also discovered a 25th hour of the day in which I managed to occasionally teach a graduate course in aerospace engineering at Carleton University.Now I offer the above experience in the form of consulting services.
