Growing up as part of a fishing family on the rural coast of Maine, television and radio was my connection to the wider world. From very early on, I wondered about the people who made this magic happen. As a teenager, I was heavily into science fiction and the vision of the future it promised.When it came time to decide on a career path, my first plan was to learn as much as possible about computers and their applications. In college I was pulled off that path by my interest in media. After graduation, I used my education working in commercial radio stations, often using computer skills to improve the processes used in radio broadcasting. I knew that I wanted to do something new, and with the emergence of the Internet and the world wide web, I found media, advertising and technology merging into new career opportunities that hadn't previously existed.My desire to work on Internet technology took me to Time Warner Cable for several years, creating video and digital content, and implementing advertising technology.Having explored radio and television, I stepped into print media, taking a job with the local newspaper, in an advertising/technology capacity, again leading this legacy media company in making the transition to a digital future.I have always been interested in using technology to solve business problems. My years producing media have left me with a very useful collection of media-creation and performance skills, and an understanding of the dynamics of media programming and promotion, My experience implementing technology has required developing some fairly advanced technical skills in programming languages, analytics, web development, and advertising technology.
