Have you monetized? What is your revenue or projection? How much money and what resources do you need to reach the next major milestone?3) The bozosity(Thank you Guy Kawasaki) meter in most of the startup community is way too high. I now understand why investors are fed up with wading through the crap. However, some in the 'angel' community are no better.4) Execute, especially if you say you're going to. No one's here to coddle you and no one cares otherwise.5) One day... scratch that. There will be several days where someone is going to ream you. They may be right, or you may be wrong, but you better learn something from it. Show less

You go to school there and then you move. Price point is a deal breaker, genre preferences are fragmented, private venues are small, and large ones are owned by the conservative city or Texas A&M University. Neither of which wants to work with entertainment companies in the area. Let's not forget about competing with college sports, semester breaks, holidays and finals.2) Permits, legalities, TABC, and insurance all provide nice sandbags, to keep you from throwing events.3) The live entertainment industry is one of the most relationship driven industries that there is. If you bring in the new kid who no one knows and then next year when everyone knows him, he's got loyalty to you.4) Be first to market, if possible, and be active to hold your turf. If not, find unique upcoming talent and invest in their first state/area visiting show. Because dealing with radius clauses is real fun.5) New talent-buyers still have a stupid amount of trouble booking talent, and local/smaller artists still have an unbelievable amount of trouble getting gigs. The only way to know the local talent is to be out and about, completely jacked into your scene. Out of town? Good luck. Show less

Austin Ventures, Accel Partners, The Sevin Rosen Funds and Sequoia Capital are not going to look at or respond to it... or maybe they're just waiting until the 10 year anniversary of the business plan, we'll just have to see.2) Watch your market and it's controllers/input factors very carefully. The market was in consoles, including all of the major game developers. A bigger market opportunity by a full order of magnitude, you can't really blame them. Unfortunately we were too focused on the PC silo to realize this.3) Be relatively aware (maybe afraid) of patents. Show less
