This includes creating APIs as a façade to a SOA middle tier that integrates data from and distributes data to a mix of in-house, vendor supplied and partner systems.Other responsibilities: Writing technical specifications for, and evaluation of RFPs; third level support; integrating applications with with service monitoring.Interesting challenges: Creating an application to receive, translate and process millions of real-time GPS reports from hundreds of vehicles each day. Diverse data sources and protocols, both open and proprietary, necessitated a producer-consumer pattern with a plug-in architecture to provide flexibility. As one of the core components of the platform, up-time is critical.
