Chad Davis is an award-winning content and technology innovator with expertise in: content strategy; digital strategy; content creation, curation and critique; strategic planning and foresight; partnership and collaboration development; and marketing. He has served as senior staff at both institutional and start-up organizations, and Chad's specialty is in defining - through action and leadership - newly created roles within an organization.Currently, Chad is the Chief Innovation Officer and Head of Labs at Nebraska Public Media. In this role, he advocates for a futurist perspective on strategic issues confronting the company, a 'new and next' approach to ideating and creating content, and the development of grounded applications for groundbreaking technologies. Today this means a focus on generative AI tools, spatial media and video game development. Through Labs, Chad leads a collective of artists, developers, researchers and producers in the creation of products and experiences that help evolve the definition of "public media".Under his leadership, the Labs team has: experimented and developed policy around generative AI tools for business process and editorial use; produced the video game Civics Scribble; created the 3D interactive/VR experience "Expedition Nebraska;" produced "Watershed," the first 360-video series for PBS.org; produced the podcast series "Center of Gravity," "Sound of Home," and "On the Table;" developed an Emmy-winning 360-video initiative; launched Nebraska Public Media's first AppleTV, Apple Watch, CarPlay, Android Auto and Alexa apps, and developed/launched the organization's first new corporate website in 10 years. As an extension of his work at the intersection of public media and emerging media, Chad authors the bi-weekly Public Media Innovators newsletter (available here on LinkedIn). Through that newsletter Chad shares news, information and commentary on media, journalism, creativity, innovation and tech. Additionally, Chad is the inaugural chair for the Public Media Innovators peer learning community, organized and maintained through NETA. As with his bi-weekly newsletter, Chad seeks to expand the horizons of public media through produciton and executive production of professional development webinars geared toward public media professionals. Chad is also a photographer, videographer and FAA licensed sUAS pilot, and he works as a consulting producer for the travel series "Travels with Darley." He holds an MBA from the University of New Mexico and a BA in Telecommunications and History from Indiana University.

Director Of Production And Project DevelopmentThe Center For Innovative Media Aug 2009 - Sep 2010Washington, Dc, UsWorking within the School of Media and Public Affairs at the George Washington University, this position was responsible for the management and development (from pilot phase to launch phase) of the transmedia project, Planet Forward, as well as other smaller projects within the school. Planet Forward is an online social network that collects user-generated ideas for solutions to complex issues confronting civil society, and publicizes those solutions through the creation of high quality web and broadcast video pieces. My role was functionally as a COO for the start-up. As the first full-time hire of the project's pilot-to-launch phase, I was responsible for hiring the initial team of web and production staff, establishing standard operating procedures, developing a 3-cycle budget, developing materials for and acting as a liaison with the fundraising team, and directing the project's production partner (Maryland Public Television). In this role, I also oversaw the development and relaunch of a new social network website. I developed, produced and then executive produced the project's ongoing strand of web videos. I also organized and produced the project's live-to-web Earth Day 2009 event for a live studio audience.In addition to the Planet Forward, I produced the Center's live event with Vice President Walter Mondale, and was the Center's producer for a live co-produced event with Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. And edited version of the latter aired as at part of the CNN series "Amanpour."Update (January 2011): I briefly consulted with the Planet Forward project in December 2010, to help produce a salon about climate adaptation. This involved helping to define the goals of the salon as well as the measures of success, editing position materials in prep for the salon, helping with production of the actual salon, and drafting a postmortem to establish best-practices for future salons. -
