I work to protect scenic and ecologically important lands along the Hudson River through acquisition and conservation easement in New York's Albany, Dutchess, Greene and Ulster Counties as part of Scenic Hudson's 65,000 acre "Saving the Land that Matters Most" campaign.

The Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station—a non-profit organization dedicated to watershed preservation, education, and research—consists of 2,000 protected acres located 25 miles Southwest of Albany. The Huyck Preserve is one of the oldest independent biological field stations in the United States and has supported research since the 1930s. Dr. Eugene Odum, regarded as the father of ecosystem ecology, conducted important early work at the Preserve and Dr. Donald Griffin discovered bats' use of echolocation here in the early 1940s. The Preserve is a wonderful destination for families and naturalists from across the Hudson Valley and Capital regions. The Huyck Preserve offers a variety of education programs, and is open to the public to enjoy its visitor center, stunning waterfalls, extensive hiking trails, lake, and diverse flora and fauna.

I was the founder and director of Adirondack Field Ecology (AFE). AFE was a month-long course for talented high school juniors, offered in partnership with Paul Smith's College for college credit. I simultaneously marketed, ran admissions and directed Treetops eXpeditions--five month long adventure travel trips for high school students going to Hawaii, Scotland, Vanuatu, Alaska and New England.
