Director Of Marketing And Advertising

Current

Rush City, Minnesota, Us

I took on the role of Director of Marketing with Dennis Kirk with the goal of creating more awareness and conversions through a strategic approach that included expanding the range of content DK makes, increasing ROI for in-house paid advertising, creating a customer journey that could be tracked, analyzed and engaged with, and empowering my team to rule the roles they are entrusted with. To generate more buzz and purchases for DK, I developed a strategy to help us push the brand out to a new audience. My team consistently creates new content weekly that has an aligned brand message being pushed out both organically and paid across social media channels, websites, blogs, forums, paid ad platforms and more. I manage all in-house ad placements across various platforms that run the top and middle of the funnels - Half way through 2023, and our efforts generated over 40 million impressions delivered, 450,000 clicks to our site and to our various channels, 2 million views of video content, and more! This has allowed us to move away from relying on agencies for delivery, operating our spends at a 1/3rd of our traditional cost. Working with leaders across the company, I have been able to implement better tracking standards that allow us to not only provide a smoother customer journey post purchase, but to better target with advertising efforts at the top and middle of the funnels by implement tracking measures previously not being used.

Senior Content Producer

Rush City, Minnesota, Us

Once Dennis Kirk’s marketing department was in a better shape to produce more, I moved into the Sr. Content Producer role. This afforded me more control over what we produced in regards to our video content needs, and gave us the opportunity to step out of the box with our content. With the help of our videographer, I was able to adapt new video concepts into our content that modernized and set the brand apart from others, giving us ability to better present products and brands from the powersports industry. This new role also saw me getting on camera more as a face for Dennis Kirk. Not only presenting products in various formats, but interviewing well-known motorcycle builders, traveling for events, and generally being out in the industry as the face representing Dennis Kirk.

Content Producer

Rush City, Minnesota, Us

In an effort to continue their aggressive marketing department growth, Dennis Kirk brought me on board as their Content Producer. There were several goals we set out to solve with the role: Organize the marketing and creative department to get everyone on the same page, develop standards for creatives and project management to ensure consistent work, create an organized workspace with increased efficiency, and pump out more content to better engage with a large, untapped audience on social media. We immediately solved our organizational issues by adapting Asana, and an online workflow that better accommodated a hybrid workspace. Working with the Director of Marketing, we made a ticket system that informed the creatives on exactly what they needed to succeed with a task, and kept us organized with deadlines. We were even able to develop a content calendar system for our social media and email marketing efforts, which made a seamless connection for content creation and distribution. This workflow allowed us to analyze weak points in our standards. This analysis allowed us to eliminate off-brand creative, and get all of our efforts on brand across social media and website platforms. This organization went so well that other departments have taken notice and have begun to utilize our setup for their own project flows, which has helped increase efficiency and standards across the company. With someone at the helm to solely focus on content, I was able to tap into the potential of our creators and get more content from them in less time than our department was previously experiencing. Our videographer, for example, went from creating 1 - 2 pieces/month, to 25-40 pieces in any given month.

Key Account Project Manager

St. Paul, Mn, Us

As HBI business grew to include large clients with larger needs, I was promoted to the Key Account Project Manager, with a goal of providing a white glove service to clients who had the most unique, challenging and complex campaigns. The biggest goal of this new to the company role was to provide up to the moment data analysis and reporting. Utilizing tools such as Google Analytics, and various ad platforms like Google, Facebook, the Trade Desk, and many, many more, I provided weekly updates regarding trends in our buys and analysis of how we should respond, responded to client questions as their direct contact, and ensured that every penny was well spent and accounted for. My biggest goal with this role was to always provide solutions to problems - wether we’re seeing a dip in PPC ad response or about to experience a political move that will drastically effect a platform, I aimed to be on top of any situation, and provide either a solution or a direction we should take to ensure we responded appropriately to keep business on track for our clients. From SEO, to PPC, Radio to Video Advertising, I worked to keep our clients informed and comfortable with their agency of choice. While in this role, I gained more exposure to content production, and became heavily involved with content ideation, development and production for various HBI clients who needed creative for their efforts. I utilized my voice in radio spots as a voice over actor, on camera for in house commercials, and ran strategy and production for 3 years for a key client yearly campaign that was nominated for several AdFed Pins, and drove millions of views for the client on YouTube.

Senior Project Manager

St. Paul, Mn, Us

Fragmentation of departments that worked closely together was an issue for HBI’s digital department, and my promotion to Senior Project Manager at HBI was an opportunity for me to use my leadership qualities to help unite digital efforts. Working closely with the directors of sales, content production, social media and ad strategy, I was able to create a project management system that allowed all parties involved to stay clearly informed to the status of their various projects and requests, communicate thoughts and concerns, and set standards for operations that kept everything in sync. Utilizing tools like Asana, our department was able to create a workflow that accommodated the needs of various vendors and our own Account Executives, which increased the AE’s responsiveness to clients, and allowed the to move project management off of their responsibilities list. This workflow was able to be replicated and manipulated across several departments, using a unique combination of automations that kept every department connected to a project in the loop, without cluttering people with tickets, notifications and unnecessary distractions. A better process allowed us to visualize the standards we needed to set to ensure everyone got what they need, when they needed it. Working with department leads, I was able to set standards in our sales process once a client wanted to engage with ideas, which allowed for Account Executives, Strategists, and other required personal to go into meetings confident in the information they received to have a productive discussion.

Project Manager

St. Paul, Mn, Us

The Digital Project Manager role at HBI, owned by Hubbard Broadcasting, is in charge of handling all digital advertising efforts for clients of HBI, ensuring the client receives a smooth experience as HBI Account Executives guide them along their advertising journey. When I came on board, there we’re three main goals when expanding to another PM role: Decrease the workload/PM immediately, develop new systems that increase the turn around time of discovery materials for pitch needs, and provide more in-depth recaps of digital advertising efforts. Adapting to the Role of PM at HBI was very fast out of the gate, but once I was able to understand the various workflows of the in-house Account Executives and External Digital Providers, I was able to generate an immediate impact by taking workload off of my cohorts, and ensure clients didn’t miss a beat in the exchange. Meeting our goal of a smooth, and immediate handoff. HBI provides many different digital efforts - there were a lot of moving parts that were not working well together. Working with our PM team and implementing project management tools like Asana, we developed a system that resulted in better communication with all parties, increased response time and turn around for RFPs and IOs, and guidance for both AEs and Clients to help all feel at ease. Meeting this goal allowed AEs to increase the amount of business they could turn around, increasing billing opportunities. Recapping digital advertising efforts is a daunting task, and one that has never been presented properly to most clients. Our PM team decided to take it to the next level -gaining Google Analytics certs, and Blue Certs for FB ads, and we revamped the way we created recaps for our clients, replying heavily on human interpretations vs dashboards with little information. This effort lead to higher retention of business for our Account Executives Month over Month, because we met our goal of providing our clients with a better value end product.

Social Media Manager

Janesville, Wi, Us

The Social Media Manager Position was a new position for the LeMans Corporation, the owners of powersports Distributors Drag Specialties and PartsUnlimited. It was a unique opportunity for me to grow several skill sets in an industry that generally finds itself behind the times when it comes to digital marketing and advertising; skill sets such as Project Management, Social Media Community Management, Product Releases, Advertising strategy and purchasing, social media advertising management, and more. I managed social pages that had a combined 100,000 followers and subscribers (at the time) across 3 major social media channels - Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I created content for distribution, communicate with users engaging with our channels, and provide a front for customer service on social platforms. As platforms matured (such as the addition of Instagram Stories), I took on the challenge of discovering new ways to share content at a distribution level, which allowed me to focus on and grow my videography skills. Working closely with the media buyer, I was able to help strategize, negotiate and execute media buys across traditional and digital channels at a National and Global level. These buys lead to the project management of creative needs for various placements, allowing me to lead the charge on various creative projects to meet our buy creative requirements - providing guidance on creative direction and specifications. I would later run Facebook Advertising Manager for all in-house brands, developing campaigns and creative as needed. As a creative immediately became a way to provide a resource to LeMans for creative development that would otherwise eat up the time of our dedicated resources. It was here that I grew as a videographer, both at events and for product materials, learned how to edit video, copywriting for Press Releases, social media posts and emails, and being a social personality for the brands at events such as Supercross.

Once launched, I was managed all social media content creation and distribution on major channels such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Once they we're able to become self-effective, I was able to leave their team in charge of social media needs moving forward.
