Initially joined a team called Tools & Technology, which then transitioned into the WFP CoE. The team's purpose has been dynamic, so the focus has gradually shifted from the stabilization of a new technology to vendor mgmt. while enhancing the tool to setting up the foundations for a multi year project geared towards operationalizing OWP & setting the foundations for SWP.The role's responsibilities have included: - Become an Anaplan Model Builder and CoE member (build & enhance the tool, admin support, integrations refinement).- Project Manage and BA Anaplan post go-live enhancement project (vendor onboarding, building project artifacts, costing, user story and requirements gathering, UAT, status updates, etc.).- Support & co-design the integration between PwC's WFP and annual budget planning process.- Support People Insights projects (consulting on required data, recommending data quality checks, building Power BI dashboards)- Co-create the launch of new processes and teams (requirement gathering, defining the purpose & primary goals, identifying risks, defining stakeholders, highlighting risk mitigation opportunities, building team structure, etc.).- Assisting in new functionality launches in WD (testing, assisting with change mgmt., building and refining communications, etc.).Tools used in this role have included:- Anaplan- Asana- Alteryx- Power BI- Google applications (Sheets Slides, etc.).- Microsoft applications (Excel, Sharepoint, Word, etc.).

With my direct leader being our VP of Lean and Continuous Improvement, this role entailed a variety of tasks ranging from team and company based strategic work, to data gathering and analysis, to building content rich presentations for our C-suite and Onex. A glimpse into the role's strategic work in collaboration with our VP and Portfolio managers: 1) Developing and measuring KPI's & metrics in alignment with our 5-year plan. 2) Cultivating a more collaborative and accurate month-end project reporting process with Finance. 3) Redefining our capital investment processes for WestJet’s 5-year strategy.Other responsibilities included: 1) Budgeting Analysis: actuals vs. forecast vs. budget (Opex/Capex expenses). 2) Resource Mgmt: tracking employee and contractor expenses. 3) Employee Engagement: tracking and developing strategies to improve. 4) Project De-risking: overseeing the admin functions of VP collaboration on de-risking project funding The PMO is at the forefront of working to double our stock price which starts with us refining our project prioritization with our Executives, refining our project de-risking processes with our officers and delivering reliable project management metrics to ensure the efficacy of our investments.

In this role I built Power BI dashboards for our CHRO and HR department, owned our organizational engagement survey and collaborated with all our HR partners on their data to provide relevant insights.I had the opportunity here to help set up WestJet’s first HR Analytics function, so needless to say we started this journey very low on the maturity curve! Our strategy was less about racing to maturity and more about delivering consistent value to prove the importance of people analytics.A large portion of this role was rooted in:1) Business analysis (working with 10+ HR client groups to define data needs).2) Data analysis (using excel and Power BI to understand employee trends).3) Business process improvement (streamlining inefficient HR processes). I was quite autonomous in this role and managed scholarships, balancing workloads with different client groups, developing dashboards and KPIs as well as developing reports for our CHRO and the Canadian government.

In an autonomous function, this student role was comprised of taking an exploratory approach to documenting the current state of WestJet’s payment processes within Accounts Payable/Receivable. I was able to map out a dozen complex, cross-functional process containing the length of time per task, locations of files, those responsible and whether it was value add or not.The output of this student role was an action plan to reduce waste while increasing efficiency. Processes that were mapped ranged from invoice processing to automated 3-way matching future state scenarios.I also had the opportunity to present in front of multiple Executives as part of a student competition. I was fortunate to have been chosen by the panel as having delivered the top presentation out of the 16 undergrad and graduate interns.

WestJet has been in the pursuit of customer service excellence since its inception and has added the pursuit of process excellence. Through a combination of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, the team and I were tasked with improving the accuracy and efficiency of internal processes while reducing the time, resources, and costs involved.We used a mixture of data based analytics and cross functional harmonization to bring together different business units. This included facilitating Lean introduction courses, supporting teams in creative and structured problem identification, and building out solutions for ideal future state goals.
