Netsuite Administrator Ondemand / Netsuite Developer
CurrentFor the first year of this endeavor, I worked for a consulting firm, but I have since ventured out on my own under my new company: SMB Ally, LLC. Go to smbally.com to learn more about the NetSuite Admin OnDemand services that I will be offering. In this position, I use the skills I gained as an in-house NetSuite Administrator and apply them to client companies. My firsthand experience as a user, administrator, and developer allows me to help clients convert their business needs into real-world solutions. With a strong background in IT support, operations, and accounting, I understand the difficulties and complexities of matching information systems with everyday processes, but I strongly believe that there is always a solution to the problem at hand. I bring those solutions to my clients to help them cut costs, improve operational efficiencies, and achieve their business objectives.
Netsuite Administrator
My primary focus at Huskie Tools was to help develop and maintain the NetSuite system. After implementing NetSuite a year before my hire, I was brought on board to help the company get the most out of NetSuite as possible, while minimizing the costs associated with doing so. Immediately, I identified key areas that needed improvement and began implementing changes that would help Huskie Tools better utilize the system.Working closely with the CFO, accounting team, sales managers, and other departments, we began projects that would align business processes with the capabilities of NetSuite, such as implementing an inventory cycle count program, integrating credit card processing directly within NetSuite, and customizing various forms to collect more relevant data.In addition to my primary role as the NetSuite Administrator, I also served as the IT Systems Administrator for Huskie Tools. I maintained the various Windows-based servers, a cloud-based Microsoft Exchange system, a VoIP phone system, networking equipment, and each of the Windows 7 desktops in the company. Since coming on board, I minimized the need for an external Managed Services Provider, which sped up response time to user issues and led to lower costs. While working with outside vendors who provide various products, services, and support to Huskie Tools, I identified key areas that could be scaled back and optimized to reduce the overall costs of the IT system. This led to savings in the tens of thousands of dollars each year for support costs and contracts alone.
Director Of Analysis And Systems
Combining business knowledge with information technology skills, I assisted key managers and executives with business decisions based on historical data. The role was to initially to run basic reports from the company enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, NetSuite, but quickly took over full administration duties for the entire system. As the lead NetSuite ERP Administrator, I developed standard processes, created appropriate documentation, and then trained employees on those processes. One key event was co-managing a project with a sister company to split the NetSuite database and implement an entirely new NetSuite ERP system.Beyond my role as the NetSuite Analyst, I served as the secondary point-of-contact for IT operations within the company and took the lead role in the Illinois remote office. When the primary IT Manager left the company, I assumed his duties of managing the entire IT ecosystem, including a Windows Server, Windows desktops, Google Apps, Cisco networking equipment, a VoIP phone system, and the rest of the IT infrastructure. Also, I managed key relationships with 3rd party vendors for purchasing and support. To help the company expand into new technology markets, I took the lead role on a variety of projects. These projects included an online education / eLearning system built on the Moodle LMS. Working closely with subject matter experts, I created online courses and modules based on the company's current products. Other technology projects include website design and development, electronic media production, and written content creation.
Manufacturing Supervisor, Service Technician
A couple of years after leaving the military, my technology career continued as a Service Technician providing customer support for digital x-ray equipment, including the associated information technology systems. This included building, maintaining, and supporting Windows-based computers, troubleshooting network communications (including DICOM images stored on PACS servers), and providing remote support through Citrix's GoToAssist. Occasionally, travel to customer sites was required to troubleshoot and maintain the x-ray equipment and computer systems. After a year, I was promoted ahead of my peers, due to my professionalism and demonstrated leadership potential, to the role of Manufacturing Supervisor. In that position, I managed, trained, and developed the manufacturing team for various technical positions while working closely with company executives for planning purposes. Each month, I managed each customer's project from development to completed product. I began working more in-depth with the company's ERP database, MAS 90 and MAS 200, to procure the necessary materials, plan the manufacturing cycle on a monthly basis, and maintain quality control over products leaving the door - all in an effort to help the company meet its monthly financial goals.
Staff Sergeant - 14E Patriot Missiles
Rapidly advancing to leadership positions, I was promoted to Staff Sergeant within 5 years of service. As the unit's Training NCO, I coordinated, trained, and instructed the soldiers on a variety of tasks, from basic military concepts to technical theory. The primary position was with the PATRIOT Missile System as both the leader of the Service function, and a certified missile operator. I deployed twice to Kuwait - once for the Iraq War.
