The Cabo Vida Group constructed multi-family and custom single family homes in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Responsible for preparation of the monthly financial reporting package distributed to senior management and the board of Directors. Preparation of the annual budget as well as rolling forecasts and calculation/forecasts for debt covenant calculations. Perform regular analysis of the business, monitor labor rates, and review various other financial metrics. Maintain and analyze data for Business Intelligence platform covering over 1,600 individual sites and P&Ls. Review and maintain pro-forma, incentive, and commission calculations and metrics for sales team.

Lead a team of staff accountants responsible for financial reporting and all facets of operational accounting. Responsible for designing and presenting financial reports to GMCR and senior management. Lead efforts with GMCR to implement a new accounting system, in the areas of general ledger, purchasing, and billing functions. Review and approve journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by staff accountants. Work with the controllers of GMCR’s other divisions to reconcile inter-company accounts and provide for a 4 day monthly close. Manage four direct reports and three indirect reports.

Plan, review, and execute financial statement audits. Review and comment on client SEC filings, and work with client management to ensure proper compliance with SEC disclosures. Schedule audit seniors and staff for client audit work dependent on skill and ability.

Responsible for performing and supervising audit engagements for clients in various industries including high-tech, manufacturing, distribution, retail, real estate/construction, and non-profit. Clients included both SEC registrants and privately owned companies, mature and development stage. Oversight of engagements includes drafting client financial statements in accordance with GAAP, reviewing the work of assistants, and performing various accounting related research. Specific experience includes complex equity instruments, stock options, private equity purchase transactions and business combinations. In addition, prepared financial analysis and presented to client management and boards of directors.
