Throughout my career, I have delivered technical studies from PEA through to Feasibility which utilized my experience to optimize the mine plans to increase production, process improvements, or mine design optimization to increase project value. I am known for providing effective solutions to technical challenges and generating a lasting impact on business growth and success. My passion lies in continually improving mining projects through innovative thinking and focus on overall project value. I am a collaborative, highly inspirational executive who adds value by:-Spearheaded preparation of designs, schedules, and costs to support PEA to Feasibility for the full life of the mine, achieving an overall NPV of $11B and 56.2% IRR for the full scope of the integrated development plan. - Capitalized on a new high-value mining project by leading the mining team to complete the feasibility study and development designs resulting in an NPV of $5.5B.- Identified an alternative mining method to increase resource extraction and production rate for a PFS study, and improve operating costs, resulting in a 25% increase in mining extraction and a 50% increase in production, which increased project value from NPV $800M to NPV $1.8B.Specialties: | Due Diligence | Cross-Functional Leadership | Mining Safety & Code Compliance | Continuous Improvement | Mining Optimization | Mining Method Selection | NI 43-101 Technical Studies (PEA, PFS, FS)

Vice President, ProjectsSolaris Resources Inc. Nov 2020 - Oct 2023Vancouver, British Columbia, CaOversee three indirect reports and control a $3M OpEx budget while leading all technical studies for the project development of the Warintza project located in Ecuador and providing technical support to the local team and projects to support the exploration drilling program. Prepare strategic mine production cases to evaluate the economic potential of copper mineral sources by examining resource deposit geometry, production rates, copper cut-off grades, and key operational inputs to determine project sensitivities and uncover key value drivers.- Championed the formation of a technical program for the development of Warintza copper project in Ecuador as a framework for technical inputs to support project plan by creating a technical study framework, test work, and technical studies required for project development. - Established the procurement and contracts team and oversaw the creation of a contract framework for suppliers and contractors involved with the project reducing risks by 85% to the companyKey -
Vice President, MiningIvanhoe Mines Apr 2013 - Sep 2020Vancouver, British Columbia, CaPreviously: Mining Manager (April 2013 – November 2018) Managed three direct reports and a $5M CapEx budget for South African operations, expanding into a copper, platinum, palladium, and zinc across 3 mining projects, overseeing all technical studies and supporting areas for each mining project, including preparing technical reports, designs and estimates.- Spearheaded preparation of Mine designs, schedules, and costs to support PEA to FS for the full life of the mine, achieving an overall NPV of $11B and 56.2% IRR for the full scope of the integrated development plan.- Capitalized on a new high-value mining project by leading the mining team to complete the feasibility study and development designs resulting in an NPV of $5.5B.- Identified an alternative mining method to increase resource extraction and production rate for a PFS study, and improve operating costs, resulting in a 25% increase in mining extraction and a 50% increase in production, which increased project value from NPV $800M to NPV $1.8B.- Steered all mining studies from scoping, Pre-Feasibility, to Feasibility while optimizing underground mining methods, designs, and schedules at each stage of the project to generate an FS NPV of 8% of $972M and 13% IRR.Key -
Project ManagerStantec Jun 2010 - Oct 2012Edmonton, Alberta, CaPreviously: Senior Project Engineer (June 2010 – April 2011) Led team to produce the mining design, schedule, and cost estimations. Oversaw the end-to-end development of PFS and concept-level studies, offering critical technical guidance, managing RFIs, and budgets, and reviewing and creating mine designs with consideration for relevant compliance requirements. Presided over the design of infrastructure systems for material handling, ventilation, and dewatering; produced end-to-end mine designs and infrastructure to support mine designs for specific initiatives. Developed expenditure schedules and generated annual production schedules to assess profitability of all ongoing projects.- Managed the mining portion of a (PFS) with a budget of $2.2M which included mine designs, production schedules, Infrastructure designs, and cost estimates for an underground sub-level cave mine located in Mexico.- Prepared underground mine design options for an expanding gold mine in Nevada with a budget of $500k. Mine designs provided optimization strategies to reduce operating costs and improve schedule efficiency. - Led scoping study for an underground rare earth element resource in Alaska with a budget of $200k. Study included mining method selection, mine design, infrastructure designs, and cost estimates to form the mining portion of NI 43-101 PEA. Key -
Project Manager / Senior EngineerNewcrest Mining Jul 2008 - May 2010Responsible for long-range/short-range planning and scheduling for UG-Sub Level cave and narrow vein sub-level stopping operations. Key player in preparing LOM, 5-year, and annual production schedules for budget preparation. Developed design options and cost analysis for business case scenarios. Managed all aspects of the mine expansion project located next to an operating Sub Level cave mine.- Managed mining project that significantly increased gold production through mine expansion for a historic orebody adjacent to an operating sub-level cave deposit in Australia; conducted a project evaluation to discover merit for financial viability of adding gold ounces to Newcrest. - Developed planning system for the expansion project with site engineers that was incorporated into the overall mine planning and operation systems for the mine. Set up technical cross-checks to ensure the small mining project had no technical and operational impact on the current underground mine operations. - Created mining cost forecasting and tracking system for Sub level cave operations that enabled the mine manager to compare forecasted production scenario costs to current budget. Maintained cost tracking system monthly to track actual costs versus budget. Key
