The Sunflower Programme and Sunflower Lanyard were created back in 2016 when Gatwick Airport in London wanted to find out how they could provide passengers with invisible disabilities with a better and safer travel experience. In other words, the question was how to make the invisible visible. So they created the Sunflower Lanyard - a simple sunflower on a green background - an unobtrusive but visible symbol. Wearing the Sunflower Lanyard can make your invisible disability visible and signal to airport staff and people around you, that you may need more help, patience or time while at the airport and other places.The Lanyard was very well received by users and has since been rolled out to many other airports, including all major airports here in Denmark. They have thus given their employees an insight into what an invisible disability can mean. From airports, the Sunflower Programme and the Sunflower Lanyard have spread to many other industries. DHL Global Forwarding Denmark, Lego House and Givskud Zoo, for example, support the Sunflower Programme.The Sunflower Programme and the Sunflower Lanyard are owned by Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, based in the UK.
