Chakit Arora, Phd Email and Phone Number
Bioinformatician | Computational Biologist | Machine Learning Enthusiast (5+ years)With a PhD in Computational Biology from IIIT-Delhi, I specialize in leveraging advanced machine learning/data-science techniques and bioinformatics to unravel complex biological systems such as Cancer to delineate oncogenic processes at a mechanistic level. Currently, I am a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Bioinformatics Group, BIO@SNS, Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, Italy, where I am engaged in the project aimed at decoding and recoding onco-GPCR signaling through integrative bioinformatics and protein engineering. My journey began with a robust foundation in Physics (MSc, University of Delhi) and Electronics (BSc, University of Delhi), which paved the 'multidisciplinary' way for my transition into computational biology. My doctoral research was primarily focused on cancer prognosis and biomarker identification. At Biotix Pte Ltd, Singapore, I worked closely with the AI team to integrate diverse and complex data types, translating transcriptomic and genetic signals into innovative treatments for unmet medical needs. I have also contributed to various educational roles as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at IIIT-Delhi, teaching critical subjects like Mathematical Biology, Systems Biology, and Big Data Mining in Healthcare. My research (14+ papers) has been published in several esteemed journals, showcasing my expertise in cancer-informatics. I am proficient in multiple programming languages (Python, R, MATLAB, C) and bioinformatics tools, and have a strong command of data science and machine learning technologies.I am passionate about using computational methods to drive advancements in healthcare and am always looking for collaborative opportunities to push the boundaries of bioinformatics and systems biology.

Postdoctoral ResearcherScuola Normale Superiore Jul 2021 - PresentPisa, Tuscany, ItalyCurrently working on the analysis of public bulk and single cell RNAseq transcriptomics data to explore the role of GPCR-related pathway, both downstream as well as upstream (i.e. ligand biosynthetic pathways), in mediating the interaction between cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment. This study is part of the project “Decoding and recoding onco-GPCR signaling through integrative bioinformatics and protein engineering”, funded through a MyFirstAirc Grant from the Italian Association of Cancer Research (AIRC; PI: Francesco Raimondi). -
MemberAssociation For Single Cell Analysis (Asca) 2024 - PresentThe ASCA is a global community of professionals who use different methods of single-cell analysis. The ASCA mission is “The increase in educational level and scientific communication in the field of single-cell analysis in order to accelerate investigations of biological objects and to understand mechanisms of disease development" -
Bioinformatician/Data ScientistBiotix Apr 2021 - Jun 2021SingaporeBiotix is singapore/UK early-stage biotech (another young venture by the singapore's biotech tycoon Daphne Teo) developing cutting-edge immunotherapeutic molecules to improve chronic inflammatory skin conditions. As a Bioinformatician, along with the AI team, i applied state-of-the-art analysis methods to inform decision-making across the Biotix pipeline, integrating diverse and complex data types to translate transcriptomic and genetic signals into an innovative new treatment for patients with an unmet medical need. The work primarily involved integration of NGS data with the microbiome (16s) data to design therapeutically relevant strategies. -
Graduate Teaching AssistantIndraprastha Institute Of Information Technology, Delhi Aug 2015 - Dec 2020New Delhi Area, IndiaCourses: Critical Thinking (2015), Theory and Practice in Engineering Ethics (2016), Introduction to Mathematical Biology (2016), Stochastic Simulations in Systems Biology and Biophysics (2017, 2018), Introduction to Quantitative Biology (2017), Elements of Modern Physics (2018), Big Data Mining in Healthcare (2019), Machine Learning in Biomedical Applications (2020)As a Teaching Assistant across these diverse courses, I have cultivated a robust skill set in facilitating student learning and engagement. My roles involved leading discussions, conducting labs, supporting coding assignments, evaluating assignments/exams and promoting analytical and ethical reasoning. This experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of various interdisciplinary fields and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to students. -
Junior Research Fellow (Systems Biology)Translational Health Science And Technology Institute May 2014 - Jun 2015New Delhi, IndiaMy research as a JRF at DDRC, THSTI was focussed on mathematically modelling cellular signalling motifs and p53-MDM2 network in context of metabolic disorders and tumor suppression. -
Junior Research Fellow (School Of Physical Sciences)Jawaharlal Nehru University Oct 2012 - Dec 2012New Delhi Area, IndiaAs a Jr. research fellow, I had the opportunity to work on an intriguing research project titled "Underlying Thermodynamic Transitions in Fluids." This project focused on investigating the complex thermodynamic behaviors and phase transitions of various fluid systems. My role involved analyzing data, and applying theoretical models to better understand the critical points and transitional behaviors of these fluids. This experience not only enhanced my skills in statistical physics and data analysis but also deepened my understanding of thermodynamic principles and their applications. This project was a valuable learning experience, contributing to my overall expertise in the field of physical sciences.
