I served in an advisory role for a mental health advocacy organization in San Francisco. I prepared monthly traffic and engagement reports for the site's blog and Facebook accounts and made recommendations accordingly.

In September 2014, I was given a full-time position as news editor of Chip Chick. I continued in my capacity as a staff writer, but also began to work with several freelance contributors to maintain a consistent editorial voice and ensure uniform quality. The other site editors and I also managed the site's social media accounts and tracked and analyzed site traffic.At this time, I had the opportunity to report from several more industry events, including CES, IFA, E3, and the Microsoft Build developers conference. In early 2018, I also started a series of interviews with women leaders in tech and media about their work and career paths, touching on issues of inequality in the professional world.

After less than a year as a regular freelance contributor, I was brought on as a staff writer at Chip Chick, although I continued to work remotely. At this time, I contributed four to five posts per day touching on technology and pop culture news. I also provided on-site reporting and photography from industry events, including Computex in Taipei, Taiwan and Web Summit in Dublin, Ireland. Less often, I contributed product reviews and longer features about tech and society.

During this time, I wrote for Chip Chick, a tech and lifestyle blog, as a regular freelance contributor. Most of my posts at this time were tech-themed list articles, sponsored content, and a series of weekly features on mobile apps.

After receiving my Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate in fall 2010, I secured a position as an English teacher at a private English language school for elementary- and middle school-aged students in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Our school taught all four language skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening), with an emphasis on speaking and listening. I had the same set of students for my entire two-year run at the school, seeing many of the kids improve from beginner to intermediate English speakers. I was also able to use my background in psychology to (mostly) successfully manage classroom behavior.I was also responsible for tutoring adult students in a one-on-one setting. These tutoring sessions usually focused on preparing for English proficiency tests, including the TOEIC and the IELTS, with all of my test prep students reaching their respective test score goals.

This long-term freelance client is an online shop selling novelty items. I wrote sales descriptions for thousands of products, using keyword-based Google search engine optimization.

This was a temp position, with our team being assigned by Library Associates Companies to a special project at a University of Southern California archival library. Boxes of documents and historically significant objects had been kept in storage in an older building, and some of those boxes had begun to deteriorate. Our team was tasked with moving those boxes to another location nearby, putting the archived material in new boxes, and implementing a new classification system involving data entry.Our team finished the amount of work the company was contracted to do one month early, at which point LAC and USC agreed to task our team with an additional section of the library. LAC doubled the size of the team to complete the additional section within that month, at which point I offered to serve as assistant project manager to help train and coordinate the new staff members. I also assisted with ensuring that the team had enough resources to finish the job, which was completed as scheduled at the end of that month.

This was my on-campus job between my second and fourth years. As access monitors, my co-workers and I were stationed in the lobbies of UCLA's residence halls and tasked with scanning student ID cards between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM to verify that they lived in the residence halls and requiring off-campus residents to be signed in as guests. We worked with campus police, resident assistants, and front desk staff to guarantee the safety and security of UCLA's residential area.In 2008, I was promoted to supervisor. As supervisor, I was responsible for managing the staff working at all residence halls during my shifts and patrolling the residential area for safety and security concerns, contacting other departments or responding to emergencies as necessary. I was also put in charge of the staff of one residential hall (approx. nine employees), with duties including hiring, scheduling, and making recommendations for promotions.

During the spring quarter of my second year at UCLA, I took an office internship for course credit at a private clinical psychology practice specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy. I handled administrative tasks like taking calls and messages and processing payments. I also sat in on staff discussions of the practical application of cognitive behavioral therapy, furthering my understanding of the field of clinical psychology.
