About Chanda Kumar

With close to two decades of experience in communications & journalism, I believe in exploring various facets of life and my words derive inspiration from everything around me. My work experience began with mainstream media and industry magazines. I have reported for various sectors with focus on retail, lifestyle, interiors, design and more. I have been associated with LivingEtc India, Femina, CNBC TV18, Deccan Herald, VM&RD magazine, POP magazine and retail4growth.com among others.I have been tracking the evolution of the Indian & International Retail Scenario since 2008. Following my experience as a business reporter with a national daily, I went on to become the editor of India’s only publication on Retail Design, VM and Shopper Marketing – VM&RD and Point-Of-Purchase. My journey began with closely observing and reporting about brands, retailers and branded environments. Writing on new trends and spearheading in forming essential content about the development of retail and store design services industry, I have been networking with prominent Indian & international retailers, brands, designers and agencies. As editor, I have spearheaded in curating content with a team of reporters and freelancers across the country. Along with tracking retail development & store experience, my focus has expanded to include sustainable and accessible design practices within these spaces in India. During this time, I have also been part of committees to host conferences & industry specific events at the national level. My journey with FRDC began with heading the studio’s Media Lab, involved in curating & managing the marketing strategy, research in latest trends & forecast management in retail builds and store experience and liaising with clients for projects. My networking efforts have led to collaborations with both Indian and international publications, education institutes, industry bodies, think tanks and associations.
