I completed my Undergraduate Degree as a Double Major in Politics and International Relations and Theology and Religious studies. Through both my majors I was able to learn various different aspect of Political media and how religion impacts various facets of an individuals life. Through my second year I joined the Manurewa Youth Council to apply my political knowledge in a real life setting. This opportunity gave me the ability to actively engage with Local Board Members and to build on my confidence and communication skills. As I was the Submission Co-lead I was able to get my council to submit on issues that youth face within the Manurewa Local Board Area. This ranged from mental health and congestion pricing submissions which were open to the the public part of the select committee process. By being 1/2 of Submissions Lead gave me an insight into what the youth perceive about various issues and how potentially we can find solutions to these critical issues. I have also been an active volunteer for Sikh Gurdwara in Takanini. One of part of my identity is my religion and I have the urge to serve people and volunteer for the temple. As it is a place that I have attended since I was a child. Post my Undergraduate Degree being completed in 2020 I have decided to do my BA (Honours) in Politics and International Relations. This opportunity gave me broad knowledge about various different things such as Health Policy, Public Policy, Political Management, and the mainstream media. Moreover, for my dissertation I was able to research about the 'Farmers Protest' and how that was framed within the press and social media. For social media I focused on Indian celebrities and Politicians and how they plagiarised each others tweets to downgrade the protest. Overall, I passed my BA(Honours)) with Second Class Honours and I got a B+ for my dissertation.
