Science Express’ is an innovative science exhibition mounted on a 16 coach air conditioned train rake which was custom-built for DST under my supervision. It was flagged off from Delhi on 30 October 2007 and then showcased in 4 phases across India at 222 locations in 800 days. Over 6.35 million people enjoyed learning about mysteries & excitement of science through enlightening & entertaining exhibits. Over 150000 students & teachers also conducted engaging experiments in science & mathematics in ‘Joy-of-Science’ lab aboard and participated in several activities conducted on platforms. Its main objective is to make science learning a fun-filled & joyous activity, nurture curiosity among youth and encourage them to pursue higher studies & careers in science. The informative, interesting & interactive exhibits were developed by Noble laureates from Max Planck Society Germany. Vikram A Sarabhai Community Science Centre, Ahmedabad is assigned the task of day-to-day operations under my guidance. A team of 40 well-qualified Science Communicators facilitate visitors and explain the content of exhibits.HSBC, Nestle & Swiss Embassy and PCRA have supported exhibits on Climate Change, Water, Food & Nutrition and Energy respectively. In Phase-4, Elements of Periodic Table were displayed on window panes to enable visiting students to learn important features while waiting for their turn. On conclusion in June 2011, it had 5 entries in ‘Limca Book of Records’. As India is host to Conference of Parties (CoP-11) to UN Convention on Biodiversity in Hyderabad in Oct 2012, Union Ministry of Environment & Forests has now mounted an exhibition on Biodiversity in 8 coaches. In its new Avatar, Science Express Biodiversity Special was launched on 5 June 2012 to cover over 100 locations in 2 phases.The train is now on a roll.

National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), DSTNSTEDB was established in 1982 to promote entrepreneurship as a career for people with Science & Technology (S&T) background. It promotes Technology Business Incubator (TBI), Science & Technology Entrepreneur's Park (STEP), Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), etc. usually in & around academic institutions. NSTEDB also trains first generation S&T entrepreneurs in Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP) besides disseminating information on entrepreneurial aspects. Further, Skill Development training in new & innovative trades in creating location-specific, gainful & sustainable employment is provided. I was assigned responsibility of all major programmes of NSTEDB and also launched new & innovative initiatives. Through my concerted efforts, 50 EDCs, 15 STEPs and 20 TBIs were sponsored, mostly in academic institutes in association with Financial Institutions & State Governments. These were instrumental in launching hundreds of technology-led and knowledge-driven enterprises. Over 20000 beneficiaries attended EDPs during my tenure and every year about 300 Awareness Camps conducted in colleges to expose over 30,000 students to entrepreneurship as an alternative vocation. As Associate Editor of Science Tech Entrepreneur, a popular monthly, I was responsible for its editing, printing and distribution since inception in 1995. With a sizable readership base, each issue featured articles on various facets of starting & running small & medium enterprise. My articles & columns on Technology, Business Opportunities, Soft Skills and interviews of Entrepreneurs conducted by me have been published in several journals, popular magazines & newspapers. I also visited over 100 institutions/ organizations across India & overseas and delivered talks on various facets & aspects of entrepreneurship.

HIMCON, sponsored by Central Financial Institutions, Banks and State Government, is a Technical Consultancy Organization for the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh, and is responsible for providing technical & management consultancy.I was given charge of fledgling Training Division, controlling 8 professionals. Reporting to the MD, I was responsible for entire spectrum of Income & Wealth Generation activities. Recorded over 100% growth in business conducted for 2 consecutive years resulting in two promotions. I travelled extensively, even to high altitude areas, to introduce range of our services and conducted studies and surveys for clients besides preparing project reports.Planned, coordinated and organized pioneering income generation programmes, especially for under-trials (first time in India), weaker sections, women, tribal, and handicapped persons and helped them in starting their own enterprises besides a much lauded novel initiative of Industrial Development Bank of India which resulted in launching of over 400 micro enterprises in a backward region.
