I studied interior design at the Art Institute of Atlanta and art appreciation at home. My first employment opportunity in interior design began way back in 1984, while I was in school, with an instructor from New York who designed restaurants in the heart of the city. This was a cultural and design lesson I would not soon forget. My expertise had it’s beginnings from several small design firms, all specializing in tenant design work, which taught me a great deal about the down and dirty of construction and budget. I finally came upon a career position in 1988 with Wakefield Beasley and Associates which had a diverse client base. I climbed the corporate ladder learning everything from sketching techniques to construction methods and team management. In 2006 I joined The Preston Partnership where I became the principal of interior design for 11 years, gaining endless knowledge in the multifamily market. September of 2019 I joined the Smallwood team. I am looking forward to learning and growing while supporting our practice in the hospitality, and multi-family markets. It has always been my goal to arrive at the finish line, more creatively, within budget, with a better product, and while having fun. I am in my element when collaborating with team members from ownership to construction team to come up with the best design solutions for my clients and their projects. I have landed with a team that shares my values for business and the design industry.
