I am an avid believer in communities solving their own problems through community leadership involving non-profit partnerships with business and government. I work to provide sustainable fundraising solutions that enable communities to build the capacity to understand what it takes to provide this leadership and effectively deliver action leading to successful implementation of value-based strategies. When at United Way I learned best practice fundraising techniques in a strong fundraising culture. After 10 years of experience in this environment which culminated in a $500 million special fund for September 11, I designed models for fundraising that could be applied to organizations with great programmatic and/or brand potential but weak fundraising culture and donor development and stewardship. These models were strengthened by my work, as a volunteer, coaching Black-led non-profit leaders on fundraising as member agencies of the United Way, affiliates at the National Urban League and most recently as organization partnered at the Movement for Black Lives.
