Bullock Cart is not a registered business or entity; it is a community run off social media founded by my sister Priyam Redican and myself. But through Bullock Cart, we have had extraordinary times and done some gratifying work!Under the Banner of Bullock Cart Poetry, we have organised over 200 poetry events at venues across India and over 60 online open mics during the COVID-19 Pandemic. We curate lineups for literary festivals, do workshops for schools and colleges, and actively seek to increase the representation of underserved communities in performance poetry.While we try our best to make our community sustainable, this part of my work is mainly a labour of love initiated by me and my sibling. A fantastic group of community organisers support us, poets and cafes serving as venues make this community possible.

My work involved visiting, academic and innovation institutes in India to build relations with them. I contributed extensively to bilateral innovation and collaboration projects in health and sustainability. I attended events when required. Organised visits, seminars and trips for students, researchers as well as high level stakeholders. I also contributed to research and made reports as and when required on research and cooperation policies.I was involved in internal administration and project management, worked closely with other government representations in India on events and projects as well as managed payments, budgeting and accounting.We used a CRM to record our activities and network along with maintaining formal and informal channels of communication. In addition, my communication skills helped in my interactions with high level stakeholders to plan meetings, make introductions, work with them on projects and events and facilitate their requirements.

Working in NCBS was a wonderful two years of my life where I developed an outreach program for what I believe to be the best Life Science Research Institute in India. I also was the manager of a multi-institutional cluster communications office where we managed communications for three top tier institutions. We frequently organised visits of international delegations, facilitated our scientists to speak with thousands of students and pushed for diversity initiatives across the institute.

I taught Zoology at a post Graduate Level and Food Science and Technology to undergraduates. The primary challenge being imparting an education through innovative means in a resource limited environment to students with a wide range of backgrounds and skills. Some need only a degree for the sake of it, while others wish to be future researchers and professionals and are capable enough to do so. I lectured in fluent English, Marathi and Hindi as required, sometimes switching languages during lectures. I created self help groups with students for their financial support and supervised over twenty group projects, the results have been presented in national scientific conferences.

The focus to improve the level of science education in a rural high school setting. I designed and conducted unique science teaching programs especially in field biology. I double up as a softball coach and history teacher. In the time I was there the school won two prizes in state science fairs and won the zonal softball competition.

I work on Gut microbe interactions. The involves performing PCR reactions on a large scale, DNA sequencing and phylogenetic analysis through bioinformatics. I Also worked on the ecology and behavior of Hydra- the my model system in my lab.

Studied the population dynamics of fruit flies and also worked on experiments on bacterial evolution and evolvability. Another part of my studies was to study the growth dynamics of freshwater zooplankton or water bugs. I worked in a state of art laboratory and that experience was very valuable.
