I direct the Tissue Engineering and Biomechanics Lab at CSU. We work in the areas of Cell and Tissue Engineering, Biomechanics, Applied Microfluidics, Stem cell therapy for Cardiovascular and Neural diseases, Pediatric Glioblastomas, Toxicology, Produce Safety, and Mathematical Modeling. We have been fortunate to receive external funding from federal agencies and private foundations (e.g., NIH, NSF, USDA, CPS) to support our research.Along with students and collaborators, I published >60 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and conference proceedings (with a few more in pipeline), one monograph on Elastin, received 2 issued patents, and presented our research at >100 conferences/ seminars/ invited talks. Current and past researchers in my group include 1 postdoctoral fellow, 1 visiting faculty, 7 doctoral students, 12 Masters students, 5 rotation students, >25 undergraduates, and 6 high-schoolers. I also serve(d) on the committees of > 50 graduate students.I teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Chemical engineering and biomedical engineering. In addition to serving as the Director of the Doctoral Programs in Engineering at CSU, I also serve on various professional, department, college, and university level committees.
