Key person responsible for significant milestones at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), such as the launch of APPLE (the first Indian built Geostationary Communication Satellite), Indian Remote Sensing (IRS), and INSAT series of satellites. Implemented Indian Remote Sensing Application Programme, which won global recognition and resulted in the development of a number of international commercial business arrangements promoting India. Instrumental in establishing Antrix, the commercial wing of ISRO/DOS. Led the Indian team to the United Nations Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. Published more than 160 scientific articles and co-authored a book in association with Prof. U.R.Rao on 'Space and Agenda 21 - Caring for Planet Earth'.Pioneered and launched Digital Satellite Radio product portfolio to the Indian market. Distinguished fellow of numerous academies including IAA (International Academy of Astronautics), INAE (Indian National Academy of Engineering), National Academy of Sciences of India and IETE (Indian Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers).Recipient of numerous awards including Sir C. V. Raman national award, Vikram Sarabhai award, Astronautical Society of India award, IETE Diamond Jubilee Medal for outstanding contribution to the field of Electronics, Communication & IT and distinguished Alumni award from NIT Karnataka, India.
