Profile bio

About Chandré De Wet

Good Day,You are reading the profile of someone who simply cannot be put in a box. I have an analytical brain, a creative eye and a heart for people and cultures. This sums up both my personality and life experience in Information Technology, Education and Community Work. And this year 20 years after completing my initial tertiary studies, I find myself coming full circle. I am once again applying for developer positions, after completing a software development course, only now I am stronger and wiser and bring alot of big picture experience to the dev skills I have to offer. In 2003, I graduated with my National Diploma in IT with programming languages, C++, Java, Cobol, SQL and Visual Basic, but never found a developer job again. Life took me through Linux, OpenSource, Help Desk, Technical Documentation, ITIL, Change and Release Management, Patching and Deployment, Admin, Teaching, Missions and Community Work. In all of these I have had to pioneer new services, I have had to jump in and support other departments, I have worked on growing my technical capabilities and skills, I have learnt to think before actioning - "If A, then what about B? Have we considered C?", I have enjoyed looking at the bigger picture, and how teams interface with each other. I have won awards and increased progress with customers, other departments and tech executives using this skill. I have been exposed to different cultures and experiences and increased communication skills to various types of people. In 2020, I shifted back to my initial studies. I joined an amazing non profit organization, CodeYourFuture, first volunteer teaching and then completing their FullStack Web Development bootcamp in March 2023. The course covered HTML, CSS, Javascript, React, NodeJS, SQL and we also worked on a one month MVP product for an external client using the Agile/Scrum Framework and learning additional skills, briefs, wireframing, shared Github projects, Google OAUTH and calendar services and Nodemailer. If you have read this far, thank you. Hopefully, you can see that I am purpose driven, multipassion individual, who is willing to learn. Outside of work I am passionate about History, Writing, Art and if I can afford it Travel. I am beginning my career again, yet bringing so much experience of bigger tech processes and people engagement alongside my skills. Fortunately the Tech industry is the right place to continue that learning and I hope to attract organizations that share that passion for honing our crafts and be part of my next chapter.Chandre De Wet
