Analyze generated large data sets using computational approaches.❖ Designs new approaches for research projects, experimental design and execution. Develop new protocols and methods, test and evaluate variety of approaches. Analyze and interpret research data resulting from original procedures and methods.
Postdoctoral Fellow
In vivo characterization of Telomerase/TERT in stem cell aging for its implication on cancer and regeneration: Recruited to investigate role of Telomerase in Brain or Central Nervous System (CNS) due to experience executing neural stem cell biology project. Designed and strategized execution of telomerase function in adult neural stem cell niche. Learned and then executed, led, and trained 3 lab group members in strategy, generation, and characterization of genetically engineered mouse model. ❖ Achieved in record time (1year 3 months), from conception to acquiring defined mice from chimeras, modular, flexible, and large throughput design for generation of genetically engineering mice model (GEMM) (13 different characterized mES cell lines, 3 mouse models generated to date). Generated one model using 1.5 vs.13 times the resources.❖ Conducted detailed in vivo analysis of two mouse models that led to discovery and demonstration of rare and unique neural stem cell population. ❖ Received 2-year fellowship grant from DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft -German Research Foundation). Experience writing several medical/science grant and fellowship for funding.❖Quickly learned from institutional /online resources and implemented sophisticated methods to include, stereotactic brain surgery, implantation of osmotic pumps for prolonged brain drug delivery, and multiple animal model survival surgeries.❖Expertise in Microscopy (high content low magnification, Confocal, sample preparation for Light-Sheet (clarity) and scanning and transmission microscopy. ❖Drove fundamental research in large context for its future application and benefits in neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinsonism) and traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, and stroke.
Phd Thesis Work
❖ Gained expertise of lipoprotein receptors in developmental neurobiology, adult neurogenesis and active learning for other lab projects. Trained for scientific thinking and methodologies available in lab - molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, variety of transgenic, targeted and point mutant mouse.❖ Undertook challenge to conduct analysis of adult brain or stem cell biology project. Successfully get trained, conceptualize and executed project, resulting in personal achievement of greater independence, project execution analysis, and thinking broadly outside the box.❖ Performed studies in transgenic mice models, to uncover the pivotal role played by this receptor in control of morphogen signaling and in proliferation of neural stem/precursor cells in the SVZ of the adult brain.❖ Collaborations with experts in Berlin, Europe, Japan, and Genentech/USA.
