Landslip Preventative Measures: Project Manager: Investigation, design and construction supervision of remedial measures for many high-risk substandard slopes and retaining walls that were prone to potential landslip failure. Main responsibilities included: Project management and client liaison; Supervising and providing technical direction to a geotechnical team of 10 or more engineers; Planning, contract preparation, calling tender, procuring contractor and supervising ground investigation for slopes and retaining walls – Design contract award fees of the order of AUS$1.0 to 4.0M; Identifying feasible options for the remediation design for each slope or retaining wall, options included cut slopes that required large scale trimming to a flatter slope angle; minor trimming with the installation of soil nails; and a combination of new reinforced concrete retaining walls with backfill. Fill slopes that required excavation and recompaction with either excavated soil or imported rockfill; and Soil nails with a reinforced beam network. Retaining walls that required replacement of older masonry walls with reinforced concrete walls or construct soil nails through the masonry blocks. Other responsibilities included contract preparation, calling tender for the procurement of a contractor for the construction of the remedial works – Construction contract award fees of the order of AUS$7.0M to 20.0M. Construction supervision including design verification and validating design assumptions.
