I'm a writer and former product manager currently pursuing a PhD in Film & Media Studies at UC Irvine. My research interests are broadly on archives, video games, queer theory, and data storage. I draw from my experiences working in software development to further understand and go an additional layer deeper into the digital objects that I analyze. Through my work on the Product team at Everlaw, I focused on how to build a better product by investigating the workflows, pain points, and needs of our users and clients, then taking that information to come up with and implement creative solutions. I believe that the best way to understand another person's experience -- be it related to my job and interactions with our users, work in racial justice, or volunteer mental health counseling -- is to approach every conversation with empathy and grace. In this transactional world I prioritize fostering and creating connections centered around care, softness, learning, and growth. Through holding both care and growth together, we allow ourselves to always be learning, to build warmth and solidarity in the communities we hold ourselves accountable to, and to hold compassion and space for experiences that are different from ours. I enjoy creating art, be it in the form of spoken word poetry, raps, paintings, or sculptures, but what I enjoy creating the most are warm, open spaces for artists to collaborate. I believe that everyone is an artist, and I find myself imagining the possible worlds that could be created if we stopped convincing ourselves that we aren't all artists, if we were to remember that even each breath we take has its own unique shape and form, that art is so much more than what we create with our hands.
