Funky Giant is a band that is comprised of four Boston College students, including myself. We specialize in a variety of musical genres such as Pop, Rock, Latin, Hip-Hop and R&B. Our band has performed both on-campus, for different organizations and events, and off-campus around the Boston area. Camp Kesem is a nationwide community led by college students who support children affected by their parent's cancer. Founded in 2000, Camp Kesem has provided kids the opportunity to just be kids and have fun for a week at no cost. There are numerous activities such as sports, arts and crafts, and drama, but along with these activities kids have the chance to connect and share their experiences with one another.Make The Magic is an annual fundraising event hosted by each Camp Kesem chapter across the nation. A significant portion of our organization's funds are raised through this event. My job as a Make The Magic Co-Coordinator includes reaching out to potential donors/attendees, publicizing the event through news outlet connections, hiring a catering staff, hiring a musical performance, decorating the venue, coordinating with my colleagues, and assigning tasks for the night.

Although we are an unaffiliated organization at Boston College, we believe that contraception should be provided on campus even if it is against Catholic tradition. Students are able to come to us for not only resources but also for sexual health information. My position as Social Media Chair entails posting on social media platforms about sexual health and SSH events, designing flyers for events, and volunteering at resource distributions. I also helped rebrand our group by creating the new logo which is featured on our social media accounts, t-shirts, and stickers.

Cranston, Ri

Silk Road Center is a community center based in Cranston, Rhode Island. It provides services to primarily the local Asian community, young and old. One of the services provided includes piano lessons. Each Saturday, I teach kids from ages five to twelve how to play piano music, understand music theory and practice appropriate piano etiquette. Having been a piano student myself, it was interesting to be on the other side of the teacher-student relationship. I remember the times I would feel unmotivated to practice so when I worked with students who felt the same way, I told them the encouraging things that I wish I had heard from my teachers when I was in their shoes.

As an Institutional Advancement Intern I helped create logos using Adobe Illustrator, pitch marketing ideas that would attract alumni, and organize archival material.
