I completed a six month internship at Medline ReNewal, a division of Medline Industries. Medline ReNewal reprocesses single-use medical devices and distributes these reprocessed devices to healthcare centers across the country. During my time here I worked with the manufacturing engineering team, which is focused on sustaining production. I got hands-on experience designing and prototyping custom solutions through Solidworks, 3D printing, and use of the machine shop. I also got exposure to Lean manufacturing and practicing continuous improvement through Simple Kaizens.This was a great learning opportunity for me as I was able to get industry experience in the middle of my undergraduate education. Working closely with my mentor and other engineers I obtained valuable practical knowledge that will be useful as I finish my education and enter the industry.
