Being available for volunteers was the most important and helping them gain new interpersonal and practical skills. Digitally we did this through online platforms such as zoom, slack and google workplace to create volunteer opportunities to further communities. Face to face we were able to be more hands on and create interactive workshops for young people. I ran a Global Citizenship workshop across South Wales which was a fun and interactive space to learn about different topics such as sustainability, safely navigating the media, cultural sensitivity, judgements & stigmas and mental health. Safeguarding procedures were extremely important when covering such topics and being able to signpost to the relevant support systems is something I am experienced in. I was in charge of locating new partners we could deliver to and support, so being active in the community and their forums was something I really enjoyed. Managing the social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram allowed me to gain skills through Canva and content scheduling. Show less

In this role I was responsible for dealing with highly vulnerable clients over the phone and taking them through an in depth, debt advice session. I had to go through a full budget with them, challenging where necessary to get them on track to finding the right debt solutions for their situations. Every call was different as the advice is so tailored and specific. The job included signposting to other agencies and charities when you suspect the extra support is needed and knowing where to find this information. The ability to empathise and not sympathise with their clients is extremely important as they need help getting out of a difficult situation and it was my job to pull them out from that hole and show them what they can do to turn it all around and get back on the right track.
