About Bob Chapman
Dr. Chapman is the Chief Scientific Officer for Dosecann LD Inc. located in Charlottetown, PEI. During his first year at Dosecann, Dr. Chapman held the position of Chief Operating Officer where he helped establish the processes for extraction, processing and refinement and cannabis resins which supported the commercial launch of Dosecann’s 1.0 Products in September 2019. He also serves as the Responsible Person under Dosecann’s processing licence and Head of Laboratory under Dosecann’s analytical testing licenses. As Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Chapman and his team are responsible for Dosecann’s product development efforts under the extract and topical class of products and future cannabis health products. Prior to joining Dosecann, he was a Principal Research Officer with the National Research Council Canada (“NRC”) ACRD Research Centre where he was responsible for leading a national program and strategic projects focused on the development of Natural Health Products and functional ingredients with private sector companies. For NRC, he also served on national advisory committees supporting the standardization needs for the emerging cannabis industry to ensure quality and safety of cannabis supply. Prior to the NRC, Dr. Chapman spent 6 years working as a Senior Scientist for bioscience start-up companies in San Francisco, California. Dr. Chapman is also the Treasurer for the NHP Research Society and the recording secretary for the processing and handling subcommittee for ASTM D37.04 standards group on cannabis. Dr. Chapman is an active member of the Canada’s bioscience community serving on several boards and advisory councils. He holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of British Columbia, has published widely, holds several patents, and has presented at numerous scientific symposia.

As Director of Research for the NRC's Institute for Nutrisciences and Health in Charlottetown, I focused on directing a team of 20 research officers and technical staff to assist the development and growth of the local bioscience community. The NRC played a critical role in the rapid expansion of PEI bioscience which doubled the number of life science companies, the revenue and the scientific staff during the 2005 to 2012. A half dozen of these 30 companies incubated in the Industrial Partnership Facilities of the NRC building in Charlottetown.
