Chara Kaika is an architect engineer and sustainability researcher from Greece. She studied architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and graduated with honours. She has experience in NL and GR working on public and private projects. Her research and design interests span across societies in transition, sustainable, transformation, and adaptation projects. For her, architecture, at its core, is a hopeful gesture; it envisions the potential of a place and strives to improve the conditions of human - and not only - habitation. Her practice includes topics and values such as inclusivity, sustainability with a great interest in the new climate approaches, biodiversity, and the Anthropocene. She is fascinated by the rapid socio-political changes in today’s way of living and is strongly interested in the dynamics and potential of reuse. After graduation, she continued her research about the territory of Megalopolis, an industrial, post-lignite region in Greece facing the new decarbonization conditions. Her project "Megalopolis Land" was exhibited in the MUSE – Science Museum of Trento, Italy during the exhibition "Human Habitat - Landscapes of the Anthropocene".
