Technical Project ManagerClever Circuits Gmbh Aug 2022 - Mar 2024Obertshausen, Hessen, DeA traction drive platform needed development to serve 3 customers with a common basis and varying performance levels and characteristics.The SYS1 requirements from 3 customer requests were analyzed and the basic requirements for the traction drive platform were identified and summarized.The SYS1 customer-specific requirements were assigned to the respective customer.The SYS1 requirements of the respective customer were coordinated using the so-called compliance matrix.The SYS2 requirements were divided into eMotor, inverter and vehicle CAN communication.The SYS4 and SYS5 test specifications were generated from the requirements specification and several test standards.Synchronous machines with 20-, 30- and 45-kW electrical power and their corresponding embedded inverters were developed for 3 automotive OEMs. -

Interfaces and dependencies were identified.The SYS2 requirements specification was derived from the customer specifications, taking into account the product features.SYS2 maturity was achieved through several reviews.The SYS2 requirements were sorted into software, hardware, mechanical, and system requirements.Corresponding tests were generated for the respective requirements.SYS4 and SYS5 maturity was achieved through several reviews.Traceability through the V-model (SYS1 to SYS5) was ensured.This product has undergone and passed a customer assessment.The 22 KW on-board charger is now a series product. -
Lidar Platform For Autonomous DrivingClever Circuits Gmbh Jan 2019 - Jun 2020Obertshausen, Hessen, DeThe implementation of a new lidar sensor for autonomous driving with overwhelming volume and speed of data processing posed challenges to the existing hardware.To address this issue, a new platform based on the RX65N from Renesas and the LTC1407 ADCs from Analog Devices had to be developed.A so-called lidar board was designed. This lidar board could read the lidar data simultaneously from a total of 16 ADCs and store it in a data register.A Python user interface simulated the data register in a Linux environment. This Python interface was later replaced through the system integration by an automotive Ethernet interface connected to the main computer of the autonomous driving module.Many tests were carried out to optimize the lidar board. The third hardware version of the lidar board was able to meet the results achieved.The system integration was carried out together with the customer in his test vehicle.A release C was achieved for this project at that time. A lengthy test phase preceded the autonomous driving module. -
Hardware Development, Test Management And Technical Project ManagementClever Circuits Gmbh Jun 2016 - Dec 2018Obertshausen, Hessen, DeA car-sharing module project was commissioned to enable vehicle bookings through a mobile app.After analyzing the customer requirements and close consultation, the MPC5748G from Freescale was selected as the main MCU for the car-sharing module.For GPS/LTE communication, the company Sierra Wireless was involved with its AirPrime AR75 through an add-on module.A hardware unit was designed with key components including CAN, LIN, and automotive Ethernet for automotive communication, along with GPS/LTE serving as the main interface for the mobile app.Two software suppliers were commissioned. Autosar-based software ran on the MPC5748G microcontroller and Linux-based software ran on the AR75 modem.All SYS5 system tests were carried out with a professional test laboratory and in close coordination with the customer.The SYS4, integration and validation tests were successfully carried out in-house.EMC tests were assigned and coordinated with well-known companies.The certification of the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and LTE modules was achieved for the EU, North America, China, and 100 other sales markets.The conformance tests for CAN, LIN, and automotive Ethernet were also awarded to professional test laboratories and analyzed in-house.A fleet of rental vehicles for the manufacturer's business customers is already successfully using this car-sharing system. -
Test/Quality ManagerClever Circuits Gmbh Jan 2015 - May 2016Obertshausen, Hessen, DeA vehicle roof console with CAN/LIN interfaces, sensor connections and LED drivers had to be made customer-ready across all three sample phases A, B and C.A test concept was designed for this task. This consisted of SYS5 test cases, called system tests, and SYS4 test cases, called module tests.The SYS4 test specification handled the module tests of the sensing and control units, of the CAN/LIN communication units as well as their integration and validation tests. The SYS5 test specification was linked to the SYS2 functional specification. The SYS5 test reports were relevant for the customer to the respective prototypes.All product FMEAs were conducted and added to the prototype reports.All prototypes with their reports were delivered to the customer. A weekly exchange with the customer team took place.A system integration of the prototypes A, B and C was successfully carried out together with the customer in the customer's vehicle.The vehicle roof console has been a series product in several of the customer's vehicle models since 2016. -
Module And System Test Management With Optimization Of The Series ProductionClever Circuits Gmbh Jan 2014 - Dec 2014Obertshausen, Hessen, DeThe error rate in production was high for some series products and therefore no longer acceptable.An analysis concluded that the test benches used for the faulty product lines needed to be optimized.To address this, current and voltage measuring devices were replaced with new models. A part of the networking was renewed.The requirements specified by the development team were compared with existing test cases, resulting in updates to multiple test cases and the addition of system test cases to the overall test concept.The new and optimized test cases were programmed in C++ and LabVIEW. The test sequences were extended in Teststand according to the test concept.The log functions of the test results were extended to enable a more detailed error analysis.The identified error rates of the series products were improved by up to 15%. -
An Innovation In The World Of Washing MachinesClever Circuits Gmbh Aug 2012 - Dec 2013Obertshausen, Hessen, DeThe objective was to develop a washing machine with a 12 KG drum capacity while maintaining the dimensions of 60x60x85 cm, akin to models in the Miele range.To master this task, we worked on an actuator-sensor concept that stabilizes the drum, especially during the spin cycle. As a result, a drum weighing up to 12 KG can be installed in the standard washing machine frame. This large drum is so stable that it requires no more than 20 mm of free space for spinning.New hardware was designed for this project. The Cortex-M3 LM3S8971 with its Ethernet interface was used for actuator/sensor control. -
Motor Control Of Water Pumps, Lin ConformanceClever Circuits Gmbh Feb 2011 - Jun 2012Obertshausen, Hessen, DeThe 8-bit microcontroller used to control the BLDC motor of the water pump could not meet the requirements of the LIN bus.To address this issue, a decision was made to integrate a 56F80 microcontroller from Freescale into the existing hardware platform. The existing software based on the trapezoidal controller with BEMF was ported to the 56F80 MCU.A LIN driver from Vector Informatik was added to the designed Firmware.The LIN conformance tests (physical layer & data link layer) were carried out in-house using Vector tools.The FMEA for the entire water pump was successfully completed.The water pump has now been in use for several years and an oil pump was designed from the same control unit in later years. -
Hardware And Software Development Of Inverter Control Unit For Bldc Motors (Edrives)Clever Circuits Gmbh Jan 2009 - Jan 2011Obertshausen, Hessen, DeThe development of a motor controller for a BLDC motor with 15 kW power for eMobility was commissioned.Several engineers specializing in various disciplines were brought in to form a dedicated project team.The power electronics for this project were provided by Semikron.A hardware control unit with a Tricore TC1797 from Infineon was developed.An Autosar variant from Elektrobit for the Tricore TC1797 was set up. The Autosar drivers were put into operation. The BLDC application was written in C.System tests were carried out on the motor test bench. Optimization of the software parameters was achieved through the tests.This system is now an integral part of the customer's hybrid vehicle fleet. -
Hardware And Software Development Of Inverter Control Unit For Permanent Magnet Synchronous MachinesL-3 Communications Jan 2007 - Dec 2008New York, Ny, UsThe Infineon 80C167, 16-bit microcontroller used in the inverter control reached its limits due to the upgrade to computationally complex resolvers and the switch to field-oriented control.A new controller was created with the team. A TMS320 DSP microcontroller was programmed for this purpose. The PID controllers for current and speed control were simulated and optimized in Matlab/Simulink.The circuit diagram and layout of the new controller was completely redeveloped, taking over the existing peripheral and some EMC guidelines.A residual bus simulation in CANoe was extended for CAN and LIN communication, for fault memory management and for parameterization.A designed LabVIEW user interface with log function was used in the test field.The new inverter controller was able to drive modern PMSM machines with computationally complex resolvers. The test results contributed to the optimization of the software parameters.
