The Foundations and History of “The Bridge” which in under JCU’s CoveringJesus Christ Unlimited (JCU) was founded in 1976 out of the revival that hit Nitro High School. That year JCU hosted "Spirit of ‘76" a Jesus Festival that brought together young adults and contemporary Christian music. Between the years of 1976 and 1981 members of JCU hit the streets of Charleston with Christian musicians and drama. It was a common sight to see young adults in white mime makeup sharing the message of Jesus Christ with all that passed by.JCU continued to grow up and Positrax, an edgy, "new wave" radio show was born. Positrax, (JCU) brought in many national Christian artists to high school gymnasiums, churches, and the Municipal Auditorium. Positrax was put on hold. .Fans and the children of JCU made a pac to bring it all back when the time was right. The summer of 2000 sparked this dormant desire of 10 years.A warehouse on the West Side of Charleston became Positrx’s new base and the streets of Charleston felt this spirit again through free cookouts and concerts. During the next several years Positrax hosted many concerts ranging from Christian to secular bands and ranging from nationally renowned artists to local unknown artists. The end of this era did come when the staff of Positrax lost focus on what was really important. The concentration became the music and not to serve. In 2005, the move was on and God was not letting these seeds that had been planted so many years ago die. He began to rekindle many of these passions and the drive to continue this work under the new name “The Bridge” is born again, but this time in Jackson County.In 2008, The Bridge moves back to our roots as we invade Charleston again. The support has already been overwhelming. Churches putting money behind their talk. Feeling the love of those who have hurt us in the past. Old friends standing side-by-side. Loving our capital city.
