Phelan Construction has allowed me to flourish and work on a broader variety of marketing activities and projects, with more responsibility. Reporting to the Pre-construction Manager, I have produced brochures, posters, banners, press releases, magazine adverts, website blog posts, E-shots, company newsletters, organised events (Company parties, conferences, charity) and wrote sector-specific awards (and won).I’ve also been involved in the coordination of our marketing strategy and on-going brand refresh alongside an external marketing consultant and design agency.Phelan works with recognisable brands in the leisure and hospitality industry, including Odeon, IHG, Vapiano etc., I have been a part of the bidding process involved in winning clients like these. I have pulled together tenders packs, presentations and producing other bespoke graphic designed materials to bring in work. I was awarded employee of the month in September.

I joined MLM after finishing my marketing degree, and over my two years there, I learned a lot about working cohesively in an active marketing department. My everyday role included designing and updating marketing collateral (brochures, engineer CVs and project data sheets), creating branded Tender/PQQ Submissions, and assisting with ad-hoc tasks to help achieve the goals of our marketing strategy. I was also responsible for internal communications to our 400 staff, spread over 12 offices; this included producing regular e-shots, the monthly newsletter and communications for regular events, including Christmas and summer parties. As MLM is a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, part of the marketing teams responsibilities is to bid for work via tenders and PQQs. I worked closely with directors to put together numerous bid documents with the EasyPQQ database and InDesign. I have a clear understanding of the B2B sales relationship in the construction industry.Between late 2016 and 2017, my time was heavily consumed with the rebrand of MLM. We worked very hard to realign all of MLM's marketing collateral and brand messaging with the new brand guidelines set out by an external marketing agency. It was a valuable learning experience.
