I'm the co-founder and CEO of The Helper Bees, America’s leading in-home care platform allowing older adults to age in-place and live with dignity.My path to launching The Helper Bees began with my grandmother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Because of her condition, I decided to study Molecular Biophysics, Computational Biology, and Theoretical Chemistry for my doctoral degree, researching the underlying mechanisms of Alzheimer's and dementia. After my family was unable to find suitable care for my grandmother, we opened Georgetown Living, a facility certified in Alzheimer's and dementia living that’s designed to help patients receive the best care while maintaining a high quality of life. During this process, I became acutely aware that senior care needed a complete overhaul, so I started The Helper Bees in 2015. Today, The Helper Bees solves for the complexities of providing in-home care, connecting the dots between insurance plans, non-medical care providers and caregivers so that older Americans can age in-place and maintain their independence. The Helper Bees works with 16 of the largest long-term care insurers and 4 of the top 5 largest Medicare Advantage plans, as well as more than 20,000 providers that offer services ranging from meal delivery to pest control to home repair. With the Helper Bees platform, insurers no longer worry about credentialing, fulfilling and reimbursements. Instead, they can focus on offering the best care options, all without increasing costs.I've been a frequent speaker on topics ranging from dementia research, to innovation around aging in-place, to policy impacts for senior care. I'm based in Austin, Tx., where I serve on several non-profit boards dedicated to senior care.
