Site maintained a 97% retention rate of Scholars over four years. Established Atlanta office, managed overall operations and raised annual budget of $920,000 through individual donor cultivation, proposal writing, event planning and solicitation of corporate sponsorships. Increased revenues by an average of 20% per year from 2007-2011. Program OfficerPublic Welfare Foundation Jul 2002 - May 2007Washington, District Of Columbia, UsManaged criminal justice and youth grant portfolios totaling $3 million annually. Reviewed proposals from nonprofit organizations and made funding recommendations to the Board of Directors resulting in grants to an average of sixty grantees annually, in over twenty states. Prior to my departure, made case for and presented a strategy for adding a juvenile justice portfolio and tripling the foundation’s investments in criminal justice; my recommendation was adopted by the board of directors. Was a founding member of the 25 member working group of donors, advocates and service providers instrumental in the abolition of the juvenile death penalty in 2005. Provided technical assistance to grantees on organizational development, program design, implementation and evaluation. Traveled approximately 20% conducting site visits to grantees and potential grantees to assess the quality and impact of their work. The Public Welfare Foundation supports efforts to ensure fundamental rights and opportunities for people in need.
