Uthuru Janani Power Station

As a Mechanical Engineer at Uthuru Janani Power Station (24 MW), I conducted regular inspections and preventive maintenance of the water treatment plant to ensure optimal water quality and system performance. I oversaw maintenance activities for diesel-fired and exhaust gas boilers, ensuring efficient and safe operation. I developed and implemented maintenance schedules for the fire system to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational readiness. Additionally, I supervised and performed maintenance on the air conditioning system to ensure efficient climate control and comfort within the facility. I managed the maintenance and inspection of fuel tanks and fuel treatment systems, coordinated maintenance and repair activities for overhead cranes, and oversaw the maintenance of the 30-bar compressed air system. I also managed the maintenance of the steam distribution system, conducted maintenance activities for sludge treatment systems, and oversaw the maintenance and operation of the incinerator. My responsibilities included performing root cause analysis of mechanical failures, implementing corrective actions, and monitoring predictive maintenance techniques to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime. I led continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the performance and reliability of mechanical systems and handled cleaning service tenders, including evaluation, selection, and supervision of cleaning contractors to ensure facility cleanliness and hygiene. Furthermore, I developed and executed procurement and spare parts management strategies within the allocated budget, and managed maintenance works related to fuel tanks, incinerators, HFO sludge handling, and fuel unloading. I ensured compliance with factory ordinances by conducting annual tests for lifting equipment and pressure vessels.

Kelanithissa Combined Cycle Power Station (165 Mw)

As a Mechanical Superintendent at Kelanithissa Combined Cycle Power Station (165 MW), I oversaw and managed the maintenance of critical equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. My responsibilities included supervising maintenance activities for compressors, water treatment plants, and diesel generators, as well as coordinating the maintenance and repair of overhead cranes, effluent and sewerage treatment systems, raw water pumps, and chemical dosing pumps. I implemented and monitored maintenance protocols for fire systems, conducted regular inspections, and performed preventive maintenance for all mechanical systems within the Balance of Plant (BOP). I diagnosed and resolved mechanical issues, performed root cause analysis, and developed corrective action plans. Additionally, I utilized predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis and thermography to enhance equipment reliability. I managed maintenance budgets, optimized resource allocation, and prepared detailed maintenance reports, while providing technical guidance and training to maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. I was also involved in the timely execution of Gas Turbine (GT) routine maintenance works, ensuring continued efficiency and reliability.

During my tenure at Unilever Sri Lanka, I played an active role in the Disaster Recovery Project (DRP), overseeing the smooth transition of company goods from an ongoing 3PL provider to a new 3PL provider. This involved thorough training by my team and educating the new 3PL provider on the entire system. I also contributed to various projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and process improvement, including improving the perfume dosing process in the toilet soap department and analyzing the Customer Case Fill on Time (CCFOT) system. Additionally, I completed a project focused on workforce development and conducted User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Quality Assurance (QA) for logistic system implementations.
