North American sustainability leader for BASF chartered with developing external and internal relationships and strategies in support of BASF's purpose: "We create chemistry for a sustainable future". Led the development and execution of a strategic initiative ensuring that the company’s sustainability effort enhances business performance and supports long-term success. Reported into the executive committee and partnered with leadership to foster commitment, culture and capability to further integrate sustainability. Doubled employee engagement in one year via an innovative on-line platform, and achieved record engagement of employees in Earth Day across North America, partnering with local community organizations. Led a team advising customers on sustainability strategy and innovation, and collaborates with over 30 business partners to help drive sustainable solutions in the marketplace. Represented BASF in key networks including the GC3 Retail Leadership Council, ACC Retail Outreach Committee, GreenBiz executive network, Sustainable Brands Advisory Board, Corporate Ecoforum and The Sustainability Consortium. Featured in 5 -10 external engagements per year speaking about leading CSR practices. Developed new and novel partnerships in the green sports arena including the NY Jets, the NY Yankees and PepsiCo Recycling.

Led external and internal engagement strategy and programs establishing BASF’s position as a chemical industry leader in sustainability, addressing environmental, social and economic opportunities and risks. Represented BASF externally at >10 global and regional venues per year. Led global business team engaged in The Sustainability Consortium to foster business relationships and constructively engage stakeholders, culminating in election to the Board of Directors. Served as an expert liaison for regional and global business and functional leaders, and led a multi-business team to further develop BASF's strategy. Collaborated with with EHS to build on our “Journey to EHS Excellence”. Created internal social media community ranked 2nd out of 3,000 by users. Compiled and utilized over 400 company case studies in engagement efforts.

Led development of long-term business strategy in sustainable packaging by leading a multi-business team and collaborating with global counterparts in Europe and Asia-Pacific. Established and fostered key relationships with direct and indirect business partners. Led engagements industry and non-profit organizations, contributing to development of new packaging sustainability assessment programs.

Established BASF’s life-cycle analysis program to guide strategic decision-making, marketing, and R&D. Enabled >$2MM of profit via life cycle assessment to demonstrate sustainability benefits, and increased regional life-cycle studies from 3% to 20% of global efforts in under three years. Supported collaborative projects with customers, created on-line certifiable educational courses in sustainable construction and internal sustainable marketing seminars. Represented BASF in sustainability and life cycle expert organizations and events.

Successful track-record leading and contributing to basic through detailed design of large capital projects for continuous and batch processing facilities. Prepared cost estimates, environmental information for appropriation, safety and ecology reviews, developed piping and instrumentation diagrams, led project execution and trained start-up and operations teams. Directed and performed design for expansion and safety upgrade of plant off-gas handling systems, including leading safety reviews and ensuring design and performance integrity. Led and participated in Process Safety Management audits, conducted Process Hazard Analyses, including change management and resolution of action items.
