Inspiring Communities is committed to equity centered systems change in the Atlantic Provinces. My role has shifted from story telling to co-creating the ways we work in community and how we share that work with the world.

Managed brand and strategic communications for the largest school of business in Atlantic Canada. Responsibilities included crafting marketing plans, copy writing, brand management, media relations, strategic communications advice, marketing communications, liaising with other communicators at the university, and supporting special projects. Large projects include managing a rebranding of the School, launching & managing a school-specific website and planning, developing and coordinating production of recruitment marketing communications.

As co-president, I helped build the administrative side and structure of the Green Party of Nova Scotia. I contributed to the promotion and communication of the Party's policy, platform and values. And I contributed to the leadership whose purpose is to grow the party and give a voice to more grassroots members across the province.

Aimed to improve quality of dialogue between the organization and its internal and external audiences. Led strategic communications initiatives and managed web presence and new media. Large projects included development, implementation and group training on new intranet, managing development of new website.

Working with a select set of clients, sought to provide excellent marketing communications materials at an affordable rate. Procured clients, assessed their needs, estimated costs, created custom design work, edited, wrote, illustrated as required. Worked with staff communications team in planning, writing and designing campaigns and other communication materials. Designed print materials including magazine, brochures, advertisements, stationery, books and booklets. Prepared materials for press and web placement. Developed best practices for job flow; planned documents to best utilize resources; liaised regularly with printer and other suppliers; edited documents. * Oversaw production of periodicals, newsletters, electronic newsletters, other print collateral; liaised with service providers, collected quotes, managed timelines.* CEPA award in design for Umbrella Campaign, 2005, NSTU.* With fellow team members, planned and wrote, then independently designed and created campaign materials for award-winning Sabak: Afghanistan's Return of Learning (2002); Public Education Navigates the Present and Charts our Future (2001); Tell Us Your Story (2000); Angels for Honduras and HELP2 (1998).* Design projects ranged from program support materials to corporate identities to annual reports, websites, books, entire magazines, newsletters and pamphlets.

Taught a variety of adult learners the basics and some advanced functions of a complex photo retouching software.

Consulted with clients to refine concepts; designed and created a wide variety of print materials; provided technical troubleshooting; assisted with prepress process. After a year, was made department supervisor and was responsible for advertising, hiring and training staff.
