Institute Partner: American Council for Young Political Leaders (ACYPL)Institute Theme: Governance and SocietyPlacement Organization: Wisconsin Ethics CommissionThe Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program (YSEALI PFP) is a fully-funded exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, providing selected emerging leaders from Southeast Asia the opportunity to spend four weeks in the United States in a work placement specifically tailored to their professional interests.In my fellowship placement with the Wisconsin Ethics Commission, I gained valuable knowledge about the commission's role in enforcing state laws regarding campaign finance, lobbying, and governmental financial ethics. I also supported with data management of statements of economic interests filed by public officials, and consolidated information for termination audits.

- Conceptualized and executed Calon18: Penang Edition, a political literacy programme in collaboration with the Penang State Government, aimed at preparing 79 youth to potentially stand for elections- Designed and managed Demokrasi Lab, a civic tech challenge to empower 80 Malaysian youths to innovate democracy- Led the planning and execution of three youth roundtable discussions relating to institutional reforms such as the Right to Information, Anti-Corruption, and the Undi18 bill

Organised by FWD Takaful and powered by Arus Academy, the Fun(d) For Life (FFL) Digital Financial Inclusion Challenge was a 3-week online course & challenge to push 30 youths to think about long-term solutions as well as advocacy strategies in meeting Malaysia's financial inclusion goals through microtakaful by exploring the question: "Can microtakaful end the circle of poverty?"

Parlimen Digital is a youth-led initiative to organize a virtual parliamentary sitting to propose recommendations to address the economic and health crisis in Malaysia. This initiative gathered 222 youth representatives from all across Malaysia on a virtual platform to debate, thus showcasing the feasibility of a virtual parliamentary democracy.
