•Completed a thesis partnership titled ‘Projecting the Emissions of the Environment Agency’s Head Office Vehicle Fleet Towards Reaching Net-zero by 2030’. This involved a multistep process:1. A quantitative analysis of primary fleet data in combination with sustainability & vehicle operating policies. This was used to determine the carbon footprint of the head office fleet between 2019-2022.2. Future changes in vehicle make & fuel type composition were projected under the EA’s current hybrid/electric vehicle transition policy targets. The resulting emissions were projected up to 2030.3. A critical analysis of the fleet’s transition progress and ability to achieve net-zero by 2030 under current policy targets were presented.4. Using these findings, and the strategies of similar vehicle fleet operators, an alternative course of action was designed and projected under adjusted vehicle transition targets. This scenario offered strengthened action towards achieving net-zero 2030 on time and was presented to the EA in a policy recommendation.•Developed my understanding of carbon mitigation systems and offsetting.•Demonstrated my proficiency in programming in R.•Exercised my policy making skills.•Provided industry experience in vehicle fleet operations and environmental management.
