I work and have worked in basically all the jobs that have emergency response as part of their primary description. Learning something new every day I work. I use what I have learned in what I teach, to share the reality side of book (or now electronic forms) learning. Doing this I learn more. Working in environments that consist of me and my partner to coordinating the health response for an entire state. Each emergency situation is unique unto itself, but also shares common ground, no matter if you approach it from that of EMS, Firefighter, Law Enforcement or Emergency Management. I enjoy working in each type of response modality and using my accumulated experience and knowledge to work through challenges and difficulties. I continue to work in the field to keep touch with what responders face and work to improve the system as a whole from the state administration level. I have found that it is important to look at how you respond in emergencies and be able to effect changes in your emergency incident for the better, and demonstrate those changes to others. I am continually working with different systems and approaches to strive for improvement whether it be in educating, response, management or QA/QI.
