* Complete refactor and improvement of the in-house tools used for ETL of internal data to the data warehouse, improving the self-healing behavior, and adding performance improvements that made the system more scalable.* Implementation of scalable access controls and calibrated query queues for the data warehouse. This helped meet the growing user base itself, while still allowing the data warehouse to keep up with demand from ETL efforts, reporting, and analyst exploration.* Extensive stability improvements to the legacy data pipeline system, reducing ETL delays and outages from daily occurrences to something that happens no more than once every couple of months, while meeting an ever growing demand of overall data volume as well as growing user base. System was adjusted to use a containerized deployment of airflow for overall monitoring and orchestration.* Lead technical architect on a v2 data pipeline that could better handle the growing data demands of the business. Features of the new pipeline included transitioning most of the architecture over from AWS to GCP-based resources. The new pipeline used AVRO event publication to Kafka, consumption of event data to a data lake, ETL (using custom code and dataflow jobs) from the data lake to a data warehouse using BigQuery, and establishing data access patterns that would help meet the specific needs of downstream analysts, executives, ML teams, and other team-specific needs.* Sole architect and implementor of a business rules engine that would collect and process financial events for the purpose of producing audit-safe financial ledgers, with strict user access controls and data protection layers. Worked with the internal revenue team and outside auditors to establish the processes and technical requirements, and designed the system to integrate cleanly with our existing v2 data pipelines.

* Led a 15+ team of engineers spanning three countries and five divisions, shaping the organizational structure, providing coaching, setting goals for growth, and coordinating the project management needs for communicating between the engineering team and other divisions in the company.* Played a key role in the launch of several business critical products, including the implementation of a cloud-based bioinformatics pipeline, achieving CAP certification for the laboratory, redesigning the core company brand and logo, and launching a new business vertical in the clinical testing space.

* Technical lead for the inventory team, which provided inventory data on over 100,000 monthly rental listings for https://rent.com, https://apartmentguide.com, and https://livelovely.com, sites with a cumulative 17.4M total visits per month and over $200m in annual revenue.* Managed and coached five software engineers, holding weekly 1:1s, and helping in their career and technical growth.* Coordinated and led weekly engineering hackathons which covered topics like using neural networks to identify good default photos and classifying photo types into basic categories (bedrooms, kitchens, etc).

* Re-architected the entire inventory processing pipeline, to build a scalable pipeline that currently creates 50k+ new listings and 15k+ new floorplans every week, with a total task load of 2.5M individual tasks each day.* Developed, managed, and executed deployment scripts written in Salt Stack for nearly every project and team at Lovely, automating previously manual deployments, and simplifying the process of monitoring deployments.* Developed and maintained docker containers for each team, reducing the onboard time for new developers, and allowing for the democratizing of skills across teams by making previously inaccessible projects available to others.

* Developed techniques for simplifying shape data in topologically consistent ways for nation-wide launch, reducing over 300 MB of shape data by an average of 50% or more, segmented into packets appropriate for web delivery.* Wrote the python infrastructure for https://pro.livelovely.com, enabling landlords to post apartments, directly connect with matching renters, and consult experts in key markets for advice on legal requirements.* Created a photo processing application that consumes, stores, and generates multiple cropped sizes of photos. Project initially written in Python, and then completely rewritten in Java to boost speed by 40x. Over its entire lifetime, the project has generated 450M unique photos, and currently processes over 600k requests per week.

*Managing a global team of subject matter experts for Hewitt’s internal automated testing tool (ECHO), spanning all three segments of Hewitt’s Benefit Outsourcing: Defined Benefits, Defined Contributions, and Health & Welfare.*Developed best practices, provided training and support to client teams, updated internal documentation, escalated issues to senior leadership, and worked to make targeted updates to the tool’s functionality.*Boosted client-team usage of the testing tool by 19% in 2011, generating direct cost-savings for those teams.

*Primary system analyst for a Fortune 100 client with 100,000 active participants, supervising offshore resources, and acting as an experienced resource for onshore members in the construction group: assisting in development questions, providing guidance on best practices, and leading team discussions during iterations.*Responsible for maintaining the client’s website (JS/XML), performing analysis and configuration for our internal applications (COBOL), scripting SQL/SAS/JCL to interact with our DB2 tables, and coding apps to help in off-cycle requests.

*Aligned to several clients in the Defined Benefit segment of the Benefit Outsourcing Division, delivering analysis, configuration, testing, and staging of system enhancements for internal applications, and the client websites.*Developed a VBA tool for client teams to validate various pension calculations, independent of our internal application, resulting in a 31% reduction in the time spent working on manual calculations.*Authored a number of SQL applications for several teams, to help find difficult-to-identify populations, in addition to creating defensive queries, to help catch defects before they occurred in production.

*Coded new Test Control Procedures and Standard Investigation Procedures for Abbott’s Diagnostics Division, using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to expand the types of medical tests customers can run.*Improved project tracking on the team by developing an application to monitor progress, automate status updates, and help prioritize assignments per laboratory needs.*Worked collaboratively with other members of CMG, as well as the AQA laboratory personal, to ensure the timely delivery of procedural changes and efficient product flow in the value stream.

*In charge of confirming the integrity and quality of the various transactions sent by the customers, as they moved through the process of scanning, data entry, and payroll processing.*Reduced downtime by troubleshooting application errors, debuging issues withe AS/400 database, and addressing mechanical failures of the scanners.
